Hi,

I up loaded some Christmas cards of my dogs. I had them printed and they are too dark. To dark to mail to my friends. I check them on line on 4 different computers and they look fine. Has any one had this issue?

Hi Robert,

Your dog cards are adorable, though they do look too dark on my screen which is calibrated to RGB.  As a general rule of thumb, I have found that cards from GCU print exactly as seen on my screen.

If I were you I would lighten your mid-tones on all of them, they don't appear to have the 'punch' that they should...and they are so wonderful, they should really pop off the screen.

I speak as a trained photographer, perhaps others can give you better advice.

It would help to know what photo software you are using.  I use iPhoto and Photoshop.  Several of your dog photos are too dark.  Your software should have a "shadows" function.  I cannot tell for sure, but lightening the shadows would definitely help - not too much or you would lose resolution.

Well Robert, you certainly aren't an amateur. Nice work all around. I can only tell you that on my monitor, lighting and colors looks perfect.  Generally speaking, my colors in printing have worked pretty well here with only minor deviations a time or two which were most likely my fault with the whole cmyk/rgb. That said, you might request a reprint to judge if it's one time only or if it will be an ongoing issue and something you can bump up in your settings for the card version of your prints. And i you hold out long enough, one of the admins will pop in most likely.
