Intro Vid for new GCU Artists

In talking to the Card Review Team, new artist orientation is a big problem. Most new people sign-up and just wing it. They upload a slew of cards, which is easy to do, then wait days for approval. In the meantime, they upload several slews more, since "the system" seems to take them. Huh

Days down the road they awake to see a painful stream of "rejection" (resubmit) emails, usually identifying multiple issues on each of the cards. Been there! Tongue

Clearly this causes major heartache for the anxious new artist, and it obviously wastes a lot of time by the reviewers. This doesn't need to be.

With that motivation, I've made a vid that I hope they will watch to put their mind in the right perspective, and hopefully it will reduce some origination errors. This will be coupled with other recommendations to GCU from us on how to reduce origination errors common with new GCU artists.

Wow! Tom, three cheers for you! Wish this video was available when I first started. Sooooo much better than the written word. Thanks so much for all the extra time and effort you are putting into these videos.

Hope GCU is supporting your efforts as Doreen said and that a link to them goes on the new artists sign up page as well as in the wiki.

Maybe it was at my end? Don't know enough about such things to know truthfully but figured I would add it to your comment. Pamela

Perhaps use a lower setting like 360 and non-full screen if your connection or PC is struggling with it. Just as long as my sweet sounding cotton-filled mouth gets the message to ya, mission accomplished.

What an awesome job you did on the vids Tom! I agree, I wish they were here when I first started, had to learn the hard way!

If you have problems with the vids on youtube:
click the link to the video
then pause the video and go do something else Wink

check back regularly to see if the bar under the video is completely filled (means video is loaded)
then start the video and you should have no problems viewing it

Maybe you should have the new members only do one test card to make sure they have an understanding of how to do it and then let them be able to upload more once their first card is approved.

We got GCU's attention with the survey results, videos, and forum feedback provided by you wonderful artists. A number of things relating to how to handle new artists are now being considered. I learned Monday that up to 30% of cards get returned for edits submitted by artist's across the range of experience.

I'm not purfect, fer sure, and submitt cardz with misteakes prity mcuh daylee.
