I received my order a few weeks ago. I inspected the cards thoroughly and perceived no problems that others have mentioned. The printing was excellent. The coating was good. Both the matte finish and glossy look pleasing. Folds are pretty good, no flaking. There was a vague smell (not overwhelming or offensive), but that is to be expected for printing. The most incredible thing to me was something that I didn't expect...the size. As soon as I opened the box, I knew that they were not the size that the template says. They are bigger! I rushed to measure them and sure enough 8x6! This is an amazing difference. I was expecting 5x7 but these are way better. Visually they have much more impact than a 5x7. I keep thinking did I miss something? Everywhere on the website it states 5x7. If you are a new artist (like I am) I urge you to purchase a matte finished card and a glossy so that you can be more informed on which finish is best for a particular image. Many people on the forums say that they will only do glossy, but I also like the matte for particular images. In my opinion all photos and 3D modeling should be glossy. Matte works well for digital illustration and digital painting that has sort of light color palettes or textures. Matte does extremely well with photographic images (even better than I imagined) however, the glossy visually adds a third dimension. An extra layer where light perceivably bounces and reflects. Matte finish really shows off subtle textures and blends, which is great for brush strokes, even digital ones. The real test in which these cards passed is printing successfully white text on black background utilizing a small font. Good designers usually stay away from this because printing companies wrinkle their noses at it, but I wanted to push the envelope a little bit. Every Calendar Card Year-at-a-Glance displays perfect readable text even with the black background. I must admit I had my doubts that the calendar year could be read on a 5x7 card. They are perfect, and the 8x6 makes them even better. I know that paper pulp prices went up recently but I hope that GCU continues with this great product. Overall, extremely nice! Very pleasing to look at and to give.
