Category Help Please
Oct 20th, 2010, 8:28am

Hello everyone!  Smiley

I have been working on a series of cards.. but I always seem to confuse myself when it comes to category placement.

I hope that perhaps if anyone of your more experienced ladies or gentlemen can help me out with this one.

I have many cards created for a Holiday that display on the card front for example:

To My Niece
From Across the Miles

To My Sister
From Across the Miles

To My Daughter
From Across the Miles..

Well you get the idea.. I have many different versions of "family relations"/ "across the Miles"
Now .. I Know that they should be placed into the appropriate "Family relation specific categories

Holiday < Neice, Daughter.. and so on..
But what my question is...
Can I select a second category as "Across the Miles" also?

Help Help.. so that I can correct anything I may have wrong before the reviewer sees the cards that are awaiting approval.

Thank you in advance for any advice/help.  Smiley

Hi Donna,

I don't believe you can put relationship specific across the miles cards in the Christmas>across the miles category.  If you look there you will not see any relationship specific cards and there is no subcategory either.   (I always try to think like a customer... if I were looking for an across the miles general card, would not want to sift through gazillion relationship specific cards to find one.  That's why, most of the time, relationship specific cards can only go in the relationship specific categories and not in the general categories.  A customer can, when they are in say the Chiristmas>Niece category, enter the search term "across the miles" in the search this category and your cards would come up if you have across the miles in your tags.  So, be sure to include "across the miles" in your tags.)

Sorry, I know it gets confusing, but you will get the hang of how to categorize as you go along.  It gets easier.

Welcome to GCU!

Hi Kathleen!
Thank you so much for responding! I really appreciate it!
You should have seen me when I submitted them, put them in the category, take them out....
and confuse myself..  Grin

But I kind of had a feeling it was that way.. It makes better sense to me now how you have described it.

Thanks so much for your help! I will go now and be sure I have then submitted correctly before they get reviewed!
Have a GREAT day!
Donna

Good idea to ask and good advice given by Kati...

The rule of thumb is that a Relationship specific card can only go in a Relationship specific category so in your example, correct they could not also go in Across the Miles.

HOWEVER we have just added for you:
Holidays >> Christmas >> Across the Miles >> Relationship Specific

so you can put your cards in that second category Smiley
