Million Dollar Idea
Oct 12th, 2010, 10:24am

I think it would be really cool to have customers be able to have their non legal type signatures,
like Grandma Tutsy, instead of Mrs. Roberta Tutsy, on GCU file, so when they send a card
straight from GCU to the recipient, i.e. grandchild, it looks like a real written signature by
the grandma, or whoever the sender is, of course.

The customer could have several signatures stored in their GCU account and just put
the number of the one they want for each card.

Great idea!  If there is a drawback to greeting cards online and mailed out for an occasion, it is the empersonal nature which we already have enough of these days.

There are a lot of good ideas though and I'm not a programmer, so not sure how much work there would be to implement this idea?  Still think it is a win- win if it can be done!

Best Always,  Randy

Grandma CAN have signature - not exactly in her handwritting but customer can pick font to use. I've sent GCU cards and I sign off using the hand writing script fonts and then had recipients ask me 'when was I in California' because they see the post mark but don't notice the handwritten signature is not mine, let alone, done on computer!

Great idea Lisa.  I am pretty sure it would be a monster headache for GCU to keep track of all the customers signatures, I could be wrong but anyway I like Lisa's idea.     Rosie Cards

I, myself, would be a little wary to have my signature floating on the internet.  I don't think that is a very secure thing.  Handwriting font works for me.

I'm with Nan & Lisa - while a cool idea I think customers would be too wary of storing their sigs (even if it's their informal sig) on any site. There's is just too much ID theft & fraud going around. I know I would be. So Yay for the Hand writing style fonts.

Randall and Rosalee...my husband is an ace computer consultant and programmer...so I have gleaned a few things from him and I know that computers are nothing if not able to store information and put it back out in many different forms.  The signatures could be a small image file that is loaded up from the customer's computer and stored just like their addresses and such.

Customers would not use their legal signature, unless they had other protections up.
But who is going to use their legal signature on greeting cards to family members anyway?

GCU could use it as an extra enticement to get people to use this site,  keep a step ahead of the competition, and save customers the expense of paying for postage twice.  I don't guess everyone
would use this, but ongoing customers who are familiar with the quality of the cards would be delighted.
Especially in the case where they have waited too long to send a card.

I like the idea because I have cards that my mom sent me for decades and I love looking at her signature, very different from any font, and very much my mom...although pretty much the same over the years.
