advice for newbie please

Hi all !    Some of you have been doing this for quite awhile, and seem to have a fairly steady stream of sales.  Would you mind sharing a few of your secrets on how to get your name out there?  Are you selling your cards in stores and boutiques?  If I keep buying all of my own cards, that's not going to work very well for me, although I do like to see what potential customers are getting.

I would greatly appreciate any and all advice I can get and I suspect some other artists may appreciate it too.

Thanks !
Pris

At this point my #1 tip would be make more cards. You have have a nice style and as you create you will get better and better at designing, composition and verse ( I found that to be true for myself). Do some research here and find the categories that don't have very many cards yet. They are going to fill up eventually so why not take advantage and get in the front door now. I'm sure others will come along shortly with some even better advice!

Good luck to you!

Hi Pris,

Tanya's advice is wonderful.  Having only 22 cards when there are 396,036 cards at GCU (at this moment in time), means your chances of being found are very low.  So keep creating!

What I do was recommended by Corrie Kuipers, a BIG seller on GCU and that was to 'find your niches' and promote them through Squidoo Lens, Blogs and specialty sites.  I've listed her GCU101 Squidoo lens below and from there you will find links to many of her other lens which speak to what you are asking.

Corrie's 'attack' method of self-promotion has worked wonders for me.  I have many sites (and yes, I spend a full week a month updating those sites) that are bringing customers to my door everyday.  My growth here at GCU and at Zazzle in the past 18-months has lead me to believe I might actually be able to make a real living do this.

Take a thorough look at Corrie's lens through the link below and then continue the chat if you have more specific questions.  There are many success stories here at GCU and most of us are all willing to share what we've learned.
