color print problems
Sep 11th, 2010, 1:11pm

It gets worse. BOO HOO
We received our 10th order (printed on 9/10/2010) and it has the same color problem as order #9 (printed 9/9/2010 )  and  another 15 cards are wrong  .
Order printed on 9/9  the blue of the sea -turned purple
Order printed on 9/10 color seemed much lighter

IF YOU HAVE RICH COLOR WATCH OUT perhaps pause until fixed

I can't buy any more cards until the color is fixed, and i have 50 cards printed wrong BOO HOO

The color seemed lighter on this batch of cards compared to previous time card was printed, but it was different from the loss of blue on the previous batch

I have ALWAYS had this problem on this site.  And this after calibrating my monitor with two different systems until my eyeballs bleed.  Funny how my images look fine on my Blackberry, on my IPod, on all the Mac computer monitors in the Apple store ... oh ... and Fine Art America gets them OH SO RIGHT ... but not here.  You're absolutely right ... if your colors are rich ... look out. End product MUST be top priority.  I'll be following this thread with interest.

That doesn't sound too good, I haven't ordered any yet with the new printer, however, I was happy with the results from the old printer.  I wonder why they changed?     Rosie Cards

I just got the cards I ordered in today as well.  I totally agree that there are color issues.  I have one with a flag and the color is so messed up you can hardly tell it's a flag.  I'm going to have to pull that down.  I can't let anyone order that.  They will be very unhappy.

I'd send them back, especially if ordering as many as david is.

Re: color print report 8 good- 2 bad orders
Reply #7 - Sep 11th, 2010, 6:44pm

We received 8 orders from new printer and over a hundred cards that were perfect !
I was starting to smile at the results of my new printer test and I was impressed.

Except for some minor white flecks on bends on order #3. and 1 missing shipping slip- all were so perfect that when i showed them to people ,  the beautiful vibrant color made people want them and take them-so i bought more cards.

After a weeks pause in ordering cards,  I purchased cards to be printed on sept 9 & 10 and they all printed without the normal blue color and some images with blue change color to purple

On some cards its clearly different, and on others its slightly distorted-  because the blue was not printing
It looks precisely like they ran out of blue ink while printing.

Once the problem is rectified(I am sure it will be fixed)
I am eager to order another batch to make sure its on track.
Something broke and they will fix it I am sure,
but we must continue to watch and report any errors

GCU must be the best every time - 10 out of 10 should be PERFECT

The printer is welcome to see the last 2 batches of cards- they are worthless to a picky artist LIKE ME
I would be embarrassed to say we did it and could not share them with anyone.
Wrong is wrong and looks ugly.

I will continue to have cards sent to me and will not mail directly to customer until 100 % consistent

Sure I can return them , Shaun.

Where do they need to go?
I am local and will drop them off ASAP  if needed.

I do not want to risk customers getting bad cards, and I know printer had issues 9/9 & 9/10
and I want to make sure its solved before mondays run. There were color print and fold issues never before seen in previous 8 orders of the same cards from same printer. They just seemed to have a bad day. Perhaps they were affected by San Bruno gas explosion tragedy or the printer broke .

I will need to send identified good card samples that this printer previously printed,
along with sample bad cards. I suspect something went ,and when alerted they might see the issue and fix it, but there were other issues with these batches like bad card folds

order 1 to 8 (over 100 cards) were close to perfect printing jobs,
order #9 printed 9/9 had color issues , but folds were ok and
order #10 printed 9/10 had fold issue as well as color issues that started with order 9

To identify the issue it must be compared to another good card to clearly see its color is off.
Our sky blue became sky purple and deep blue sea became deep purple sea and cards are wrong
On Other cards in the batch the color shift is less clear if the card does not have blue, but

Without a comparable good card -card color is subject to interpretation and the artist image might be wrong, but many of the cards printed on several orders perfectly. So its not the card design

Shaun

This printer printed 8 orders perfectly and consistently,  and I learned to see and appreciate their work but 9/9 and 9/10 they had bad days, To put it politely.
I checked every card and on first 8 orders they were near perfect.

On my order 9/9 there was only a color issue-color shift-blue-purple of 10 -20 % clearly visible on 25 of 35 cards when you lay them side by side with previous good card prints
On my 9/10 order , there were color issues on 12 of 18, fold issues on 8 and many card edges were cut and coating layer was sort of flaky in a way unseen on the first 8 orders, Like the coating layer was peeling off at the edges.

I will send 4 bad-4 good card samples to the return address on the cards original shipping box.
of the 54 total cards , 12 had minor color shifts only an artist familiar with the design could recognize, and 42 cards that when compared to previous orders is quite different from the original .

I can also send the balance of the cards, if desired but might need to find and send good cards along with them.  While a 10 to 20 % color shift is not major, its still looks wrong and changes the sparkle in the image and was not the way it was created or that this same printer consistently printed correctly several times, but worse was folding of cards order 9/10 that was wrong with inside white of card showing because it was folded crocked. Several cards on my order 10 had fold issues- worse than the color issues.

If there is a change in process of printing card color, we can adjust images to fit, but the printer did a great job with same cards over several different orders. We had 8 perfect orders until 9/9 & 9/10 bad orders

I will forgive them as long as problem is fixed  and better quality control is implemented
Quality control was surely blind when the improperly folded cards printer 9/10 came out.
Color shift is minor- bad fold is something quality control should catch and a major card issue and looks unprofessional and I can place another order for more cards printed correctly .

This printer flunked my first test after a great start , i plan to retest and continue to watch carefully
GCU is a place for the BEST cards with BEST printing ,BEST variety, BEST words

I will continue to report on test results and hope to see many more properly printed cards
Because when they are right , they are beautiful as this printer proved over 8 orders until last 2 orders when it fell apart.

I plan to order again today to see if they are back on track

David, you can return the cards to our office:
BigDates Solutions
2694 Bishop Drive
Suite 211
San Ramon, Ca 94583

Your're right, without a "good" print of the card it does make the issue tough to troubleshoot, but it would still be helpful for us and our printer to see the cards.

Thank you Shaun
I just mailed then to that address which was on the original box

I sent off and paid for overnight delivery so it will arrive by end of day 9/14, 4 sample bad cards and 4 correctly printed good cards of the same design.
I paid a lot extra($21) for overnight delivery, but I wanted this to be seen ASAP and solved so I can order more.  Without seeing good cards printer cant be sure issue is resolved.

In fact I will place an order 9/14 for cards to be printed 9/15 to test and see if the issue is resolved

Thanks for sending the cards back to us.  I don't know for sure if the issue will be corrected by end of day tomorrow, but I will let you know if any changes are made.

I went ahead and placed another order on 9/13 for 19 cards to be printed 9/14
You can hold up the order printing if you want, until printing is OK and then print these to verify they are back on track.
