Newbie question
Sep 5th, 2010, 5:56am

Good morning everyone!
My husband and I are newbies to Greeting Card Universe and this is my first post to the forum. We would love for you guys to check out our store and cards at www.greetingcarduniverse.com/childrenoflight and tell us what you think! Secondly, I have a question: every time I check the new card section for our cards, they are never there. Is this the norm? Did I miss something in the Wiki guide about an artist rotation perhaps? Could really use your help!  undecided Thanks! Grin

Hi both

Welcome to GCU hope you have a wonderful time with us

You will not always find your cards on the New section, there are roughly say 2k cards a day wizzing past the reviewers so if your number of you PID is lower than the last page then your's has already zoomed into your store, sometimes you do get there but it depends on the amount being reviewed at a time or similar Cheesy

I rearly look these days Smiley

Have a great time designing and photographing

Huge Hugs

Welcome to GCU Matthew and Glendora!

Tanya already answered your question about the New Section, don't bother  Grin  The only time I have noticed my cards there was when I had created a dozen or so with the same design but different relations and I don't do that very often.

I love your storefront!  The pastel color combo and lovely banner is just so soft and inviting.  Matthew's has some nice photographs and I love the framing you've created for those cards.  Glendora the cards you are designing are wonderful.  I think you both will do very well here.

We are all here to help each other, so we'll see you on the forum anytime you have a question.  In addition to the Wiki that you already mentioned reading, one of our best selling artists took the time to write GCU 101 which goes even deeper into creating cards.  You might find that worth a read as well.

Best to both of you and we'll see you on the forum!

Glendora,

Seems that you got your question answered.  I just wanted to poke in here and say congratulations on the beautiful cards and getting so many up so soon.

I do have one suggestion I think might help.  In your titles, I would go with a more direct approach instead of having Children of Light in your card titles.  First maybe the subject, and a bit more descriptive on the subject and then what the card is.  For example, the 'serene duck' I'd change the title to, Serene Duck - Mallard - Blank Card.  The reason is that as you get more cards into your store, you may start writing some verse and putting them into more categories which is how most people shop for a certain card.  Also, it helps me when I'm scrolling through my cards and trying to organize as the title is the first thing I see without having to scroll over the image and since I use one image with different verse and for various categories, I'd go nuts trying to organize.  Right now you have 35 cards and probably know them all by heart, but it won't be long until you have several pages of cards.

Reading the forum every day and getting familiar with the Wiki along with GCU 101 will give you loads of tips for improving your store and ultimately making sales.  Pay special attention to the marketing tips, the sources other artists are using to promote their cards.

Good luck 'newbies'!  You won't be for long, I can see already I'll be getting advice from you.  LOL

Best always,  Randy

Good morning Randy!
Thanks for the great advice. Actual in the title for the newest 18 cards is "Photos of the Light" not "Children of Light." Photos of the Light is the newest collection we are featuring with photos from my husband's website. I put the collection name in the title as to distinguish for the customer which photos belong to this particular collection. This will make shopping easier at a glance. Just finish looking at your storefront. Great photos and designs! (Love the cowboy shots) Please keep the great advice coming! Thanks so much!
