Offer Note Card Size?
Sep 3rd, 2010, 5:54am

I sell more note cards than greeting cards on another POD site.  I would LOVE Smiley to see GCU offer that choice along with the greeting card size.  Sometimes, the greeting card is just too big and it would be nice to offer a smaller choice.  i.e. for invitations.
Please consider this for future improvements to GCU, I think it would generate sales.

I love the new printing company, but on further inspection of my last order, there are grey smudge lines on the front of some of the cards that don't have black backgrounds.  GCU replaced the smudged black backgrounds and I really appreciate that ... the new ones arrived in perfect condition.
But, I worry that a customer would receive an order with smudges and just not come back again.

Thanks, GCU, for listening and I am crossing my fingers for the addition of notecards to the choice of card size.

Yes, we do have this on our wish list and this is one option that our new printing partner may afford us to offer in the future.  Thank you for your suggestion  Smiley

Mindy, any chance of flat cards being offered at some point? They are hot, hot, hot!

I feel like with all the blank note cards we have for sale, if we had note card sized cards Greeting Card Universe could double it's sales. Especiall with the number of invitations that are sold here as well. Many people prefer smaller sized cards when they are purchasing invitations and change of address cards. Flat cards are a big deal too, but I think note cards should be top priority. especially if they could start out at 2.29 or cheaper. I'd be totally willing to take a cut in comissions if it meant doubling sales, wouldn't everyone else?

flat cards are like post cards i would assume.  i agree note cards would be great and the flat cards.  people do like the smaller size and the flat- or post card is cheaper to mail.

I think if we are to venture into different sizes ie: note cards we'd take on other alternative offerings at the same time ie: flat/post cards so yes it's a possibility.

Question, with postcards what happens with the inside verse?  Simply printed on the back or no verse?  Huh

on the ones i do at for local sales i put the verse or info at the top of the left hand side and leave the bottom left and right blank.  there are guidelines from the USPS for postcards you may need to look into.. or the printer may already have that info if they print post cards normally.  i am sure they already have a template for them that is acceptable

Standard postcard size is 4x6, I believe, but I'm talking about flat cards - 5x7 intended to be sent in an envelope. See here for examples:

Mostly, flat cards are used for invitations, announcements, and customizable photo cards. All  necessary information is on the front of the card.

I think if GCU wanted to get into flat cards, they would also have to look into making the logo and artist's logo on the back a little more discreet.

corrie i did think of the cards you meant, because i just did a custom for a friend of mine and that is what i suggested to her, she loved them.  less paper to deal with and yet very elegant...i did hers in linen and they were very nice.   these would be a great addition to gcu along with note cards.

I like the idea of flat cards as well.  Wouldn't we have to look into different offerings of card stock with these?  I've always chosen linen or watercolor-like textured stock that's a little heavier for the un-folded flat cards I've designed.

Actually I have had on my "wish list" a card stock offering that had a slight texture and no finish . . the first time I got "matte" finish I thought they were gloss!  Shocked  I think many designs (especially for invitations) would work well on such a stock.

Flat cards (5x7) (designable on both sides) with envelopes for invitations and photo cards would be a great addition to GCU card selection.  Even have sold many wedding announcements in this format.  Would also be great to have a selection of different types of card stock papers for these cards specifically.

Might it be possible to sell them only in quantities instead of individually?

Great Ideas on this...yes Kathleen, selling them with minimum quantities would also help to distinguish them from greeting cards and set them apart with a more sophisticated or appropriate card stock such as linen--you are right Ernestine, no gloss.
What about envelopes though, wouldn't they have to match to be first rate?
