Custom card request
Jun 13th, 2010, 3:27pm

Hi Mindy / Shawn
I have had a custom card request for which the customer would like the front and inside text in a foreign font ( IranNastaliq )which I do not have on my computer and is not available in the GCU fonts.
The customer sent me the text in a word document which I can paste onto the front of the card, is there any way I can do the inside verse the customer wants?
The customer would want to order 100+ if the card can be customised, sadly it would reflect negatively on myself and GCU if I am unable to fulfill this request!
I have been asked to alter the image to suit requirements which I am happy to do, but the text is causing nightmares!

Hi, Karen,

Just a thought:  If the customer has this font, then he/she could use it to create the inside message, then save it as a jpg or png file and upload it to the inside of the card at the checkout, using the 'add your image feature' that GCU has.

Or, you could create the inside message, save as I mentioned above and email it back to your customer so he/she could add it at the checkout.  That might be your best option, as you could save it as a transparent png file, which prints out rather nicely for the inside message, based on the couple of times I've used it.

Hope this helps!
Good luck!

Hi,

I was in the process of composing an answer similar to the one just above and was going to suggest the same solution. Karen, the Iran Nastaliq font is freely available, and that would make it possible for you to do as Penny has proposed. I've also had good results with the printing of PNG files inside several cards (as a customer) and have been able to copy/paste non-Western text and have it display accurately by choosing the appropriate font (that I had downloaded and installed on my computer) in Photoshop while creating an image. If only I had known these little tricks before I once lost a nice order requiring Hebrew characters inside!

This should work out fine with the slight detour described - best of luck!

I am happy to read your answer. After I read the question, I had no idea how the request would be able to be fulfilled.  Your information in the answers was excellent!  Inquiring minds thank you. Wink

Hello Karen,

We don't have an easy way to make the font available to you, so your best bet may be to follow Penny and Joan's advice above and create a png of their text so that they can upload it to the inside of their card.

Once you've created the text I recommend testing it by going through the process as a shopper and adding the image to the inside of the card just to make sure that everything looks ok and ensure the image fits nicely between the dotted region on the inside of the card.
