You need some basic html (hypertext markup language) you can google it if you want to add more but basically for a link it's this:
 
<a href="http://www.greetingcarduniverse.com">the text you want for the link goes here ie click here </a>
 
Obviously put in the url - web address you want after the http:// - the text is usually the web address or sometimes click here or whatever you want.  If you want the link to open in a new page - add target="_blank".

Where do you want to put it? On the top welcome bit or on the side?  You go through Store Layout & Content and then edit which box you want, i.e. Welcome or Artist Profile.
