Employment Opportunities at GCU
May 7th, 2010, 11:16am

Hi Mindy and Shaun,

I have noticed that the number of cards being submitted is getting larger and larger. This leads to more cards that could generate revenue for GCU and the artists. Unfortunately, this also leads to longer wait times for card approvals.

I am wondering if GCU is looking to hire more card reviewers. If positions are open, is it possible for artists to be informed so that we could apply to fill the need. I thought that this may be a conflict of interest but I am sure that there could be a way of directing an artist's cards to be reviewed by someone else.

I have been hearing a lot of rumblings about long wait times for cards to be reviewed and can only assume that it is because GCU does not have enough reviewers.

GCU is one of the only companies that require cards to be reviewed. I understand that quality control is extremely important and I agree that cards should be reviewed. However, 7 days is an extremely long time to wait. So much so that I have met 8 incredibly talented artists that will not sign up to GCU.

Ideally, cards should be able to be reviewed within 24 hours of being submitted.

My thinking is that GCU should either:

A. Hire more reviewers and/or
B. Put a cap on the number of cards that can be submitted per artist per day

Some artists might balk at the suggestion of a cap, but I think it would be better to have 50 card approved per 24 hours than to have 150 cards taking 7 days for approval.

Just my 2 cents. If you are hiring, I have an extremely techno-savy 15 year old who would love to earn extra cash.

Have a great day.

Lisa

Sounds very reasonable to put a cap on the amount of cards per day, if it will help.  Of course I am one of the ones with thousands of cards, so it would definately work for me.  Not sure how it would affect newcomers with not too many cards in their shop.  But I raise my hand for it Smiley

I'm not sure what the answer is but, I have opened a Zazzle store and the turn around time is so quick that when I came back to add more cards to GCU, I had forgotten how frustrating GCU's process is.  All this to say,  there's got to be a better way. Please GCU, re-think your process.
