Arranging Gallery
May 5th, 2010, 7:59am

Hi All,

I am trying to arrange my gallery and it is getting quite frustrating. If I go to "arrange Gallery" and have it arrange by keyword, it works fine. My store matches what is showing on my "arrange gallery" screen. BUT, if I drag and drop, or change the numbers, my store will remain with the keyword arrangement. I can even log out and then back in and my "arrange gallery" screen is as it was when I rearranged, but my store does not match.

I have tried drag and drop, changing numbers, but none of it sticks in my store.

In case this helps figure out my issue:

Global Preferences: New Card Position = last

Store: "Sort by: Artist Choice"

I must be blind or doing something very obviously wrong but it is not working. I am able to arrange my featured cards just fine. Just not my gallery.

Any help would be awesome.

Thanks
Lisa

Hi Lisa..   I think the changes take 24 hrs or so for the rearrange to take place for you..  Also..  I believe that no matter what you default the pref to..  if someone comes along and say..  chooses to view you "newest view"  that's the way your store will stay till someone clicks it another way.  I think I read something about how this all works in the 101 or wiki sections here..  I will go see if I can find it for you.. Hi Lj,

If you have default as Artist Choice it stays that way, when someone chooses Newest View it only changes for them, if they then go to another store they will see the newest view in that store as well. So it only changes for the viewer and not your store, if you had ten people at your store at the same time it would end up looking like my TV when my wife has the remote control. Roll Eyes

Hummm.. That's weird..  Mine changes all the time..  I have it set to "Most popular" and several times a day when I go look.. it is often shows me "Newest" or "Artist choice"   Perhaps mine is not working correctly?

Martin is correct the view setting relates to your last choice, not what a customer does in your store.
Martin you had me laughing out loud with the remote comment Grin Grin Grin

Lisa just a thought, have you cleared the cache on your computer I know it works for some things?

LJ could it be that you change to newest setting when you are looking in the card categories? I would think the same principle would apply as looking in stores and may explain your changing store settings.

Thanks for the replies everyone.

I am not going to worry about it. Since it is going to change anyways (when people visit and have been previously viewing "newest" etc.). I will focus on my "Featured Products" gallery.

That is quite funny because that has been acting funky as well. I decided to start from scratch and reselect the cards I want in my featured products. All was well until I got to card #12. Then it told me that I had already picked 15 cards. Sooooo, off I went to "remove all cards" and start over. Then it told me my 11th card was really my 15th. After doing this a number of times, I managed to get 14 cards selected before it told me I had selected 15. embarrassed

Not sure why it is doing this but I am done for today. Perhaps I will try again on another day. I did manage to redo my header, links, and sidebar (with twitter and blog icons). That is enough for today.

Any feedback on my storefront would be much appreciated.

Thanks for your help.

Hi Lisa,

Sorry you had a day of it, sounds like there are gremlins today Sad glad I haven't been trying to arrange anything today.

Personally, I love the look of your store, very professional and clean. I like the category choices in the welcome box. I am currently working on those for my GCU store to try to make it more user friendly. Yours look great!
Great header too!
Thumbs up all around here
