New Uncommon Card Picks

We've just added a new view for shoppers similar to GCU Picks called Uncommon Picks.

Similar to GCU Picks these are picked by the staff at GCU. So your cards now have 2x the chances of getting their 10 seconds of fame Cool

This view will feature cards that shoppers are unlikely to find in their local card stores; uncommon, off the wall, nontraditional, peculiar if you will, but on GCU it is all business as usual.

Don`t want to burst the bubble but, I`m still not understanding why with All the artists...All the cards...GCU still feels the need to double/triple up on the same artists cards. Cool. I do agree 1 card per artist would be most fair.

One fresh "picks page" thought came to my head that is similar but could be automated. It would be a new page with a refresh button (or auto refresh after 10 seconds) that grabs the first card in an artist's featured card set. There would be just 12 cards (2 rows of 6) to keep the cards above the fold (no scrolling). Each time the shopper hit the refresh button (or the auto refresh) another 12 cards from 12 random artists would be shown.

I'd call the page "Top Slot Cards" and we artists would chose which card we wanted in that top slot.

Your uncommon thinking about things like this is what has made GCU the best!

tom's idea sounds great and i too have been thinking on a way to show every card on gcu at some given point.

having done some calculations, checked by my pharmacist hubby with his formulary experience. if every card on gcu was put into a continuous loop, adding in new ones as they were approved. in one week and a half day at our current card number 322249... each and every card on gcu could be seen for 2 seconds.

now that doesn't seem like a long time but if you are glancing through, you see more than one in 2 seconds time. put 5 up at a time and give them the full 10 seconds... whatever you wanted to do but there would be an opportunity for each and every card in the gcu "catalog" to be seen. go by categories and all of the like cards would show together and a shopper could go to that category to shop or continue to browse. think of it as a gigantic widget... the technology is already there, it just needs to have the ability to expand the number of cards it can process.

i realize this would include the "adult" cards but they are monitored not to get out of hand anyway and I don't believe there are any that are way over the top that couldn't be seen for 2-10 seconds.
