"Sell this card" on Private Gallery Cards???
Mar 25th, 2010, 10:07pm

Shocked Huh I just realized that a seller could grab the code for cards in any of our "Private Galleries."  This presents potential problems as many of these are of a personal nature and of course a good many of these have also by-passed review and the terms state the artist could be financially responsible for errors on these cards.

The issue of off site promotion of Private Gallery cards really should be addressed right away. Is there any way this could be turned off for private gallery cards? Is anyone else concerned about private gallery cards be promoted from other sites?

i don't think this is a good idea either concerning custom made cards for individuals.  but i have cards i had to put in my private gallery because of having extra colorways of the same card.  they are just lost as far as i am concerned. for those of us who have private cards for that reason it wouldn't matter.  but it is better to protect the ones that were suppose to be private for buyers.

Thanks for the feedback, we're looking into removing this feature from the private gallery.

What if I have a set of custom cards made for a local business that they want to place on their website with the intent of collecting Card Seller credit?

I don't think shutting this option off totally for private cards is necessarily the answer.  On the contrary, I think custom cards provide some of the greatest reseller oppotunities, as we can make cards specific to a business, an area, a team, or an organization such as a church - sites with unique visitors who will buy organization specific cards showcased on their website.

To address your concern, Tom,
Perhaps Custom Cards with a code would be a solution.

Yes, Linda, something needs to be provided to allow custom cards for resellers.  I'd like a set of folders (unlimited) so I can make a series of custom cards for each client, such as the Realtor account I now have that wants a new custom card each month.  So far they have ordered 150 one month and 165 the next.  I now have the next set of cards for them in my "open" private area, which is not ideal.

Other clients want a custom series on their own website, and these should come from a client folder in the private gallery rather than mixed in with all my other "single need" private cards - such as a custom wedding anniversary or birthday card.

Just wanted to get GCU to consider these needs too before they kill the Sell this Card option on all custom cards.

Ideas for "Custom series"
1.  Local school graduation cards and school sports congrats cards
2.  Local Church "mix" cards (congrats on wedding, holiday religious, sympathy, ...)
3.  Local business "thank you" and Holiday cards
4.  Local business employee relationship cards (retirement, promotion, thank you, ...)
5.  Local attractions/tourism - cards for your City to have on their Webpage
6.  Local clubs - cards for their website  (Red hatters, charity, ...)

If you are locally well connected, there are lots of sales that can result with some of the $ going right to the card seller (ie: Church group) and some to the Artist.

You are always welcome, tom...and maybe one of your clients would like to run a short sale of maybe 5,000 "fluffy, bored with coughing up fur balls" cards...lol...you are an appreciated artist here.

So sad to hear that Linda .... please know he is still the same, just transformed.  He will still watch over you with his drippy smile, and will patiently wait for you to pet and hold him lovingly once again someday.

( Linda-
So sorry to hear about Yakaroo cry  I can only imagine how much he'll be missed. )

I sure understand the plus of being able to promote private gallery cards on other sites and Tom you've shown that it's a great promotion tool (both individually and for GCU as a whole) to have these specialty cards available to card sellers.  There needs to be a way to get the referral code on these private cards to those they are intended for as well as limit just ANYONE from promoting those cards that artists put in their private gallery for their own "private" reasons and may not meet general GCU card population criteria.

Perhaps something like this: when an artist creates a private card the code is available to them when logged in on their manage cards, but if a customer or shopper ventured into one "Private Gallery" and clicked on the the "$" it could say something like: "Contact the artist to sell this Private Gallery card on your website or blog." ( I'm sure there's someone who can come up with better wording!  Huh )
