Card poularity

Hi there, I'm quite new here and I was just wondering how cards move up in popularity? I added cards 1 week ago and one of them has moved forward 3 pages (when sorted by popularity) in the 30th birthday paty invitation category but it's had no clicks! How can that have happened?! When i sort by newest it is still the most recent to be added. Do clicks only get recorded when somebody clicks on them from your store page?!

Hi Claire and welcome to GCU. The popularity formula is a complex formula known only to GCU. However, one thing I have noticed is that when new cards are added some of the new cards do move up, as you have seen. I don't really know why this happens, but it does happen. You get clicks added when anyone clicks on them anywhere so they do not have to be in your store to generate a click.

It's a formula that takes into account how long the card has been around, number of clicks, number of sales, number of times it has been favorited, number of times it has been in a shopper's cart, number of reviews, number of times customized, number of times it has been a GCU pick, and so forth. It is not easy to tell from day to day why a particular card moves up or down as its position is also relative to the popularity of adjacent cards.

Just be happy when they are moving UP!

There is actually a process that is in place that deals with your concerns. This process looks at a number of different factors, and calculates a card's rank on a specific page via a complex and top secret formula. Cool

The goal of this is to prevent great cards that were recently submitted from being buried on the bottom, and to also prevent old cards that never sell or rarely get looked at, from appearing on the top of the page.

I must say that it is quite an ingenious system that the AMAZING GCU programmers came up with!"
