Hello, I'm a newbie!
Mar 14th, 2010, 4:47am

Hello there, I'd like to introduce myself. My name's Claire and I'm from Scotland.

I've been a member here for a couple of months but so far I've not sold anything and I'm not getting many card clicks! If anybody could offer some advice then I'd be really grateful  Cheesy

My store name is "clairescardstore" if you would like to check it out. I mainly specialise in photographic images and also have a redbubble and zazzle account! So far I'm finding GCU the hardest to break into..maybe because the categorising and tagging the cards are much more closely inspected and strict!

Hello and welcome, Claire
I checked out your shop, nice images, crisp and clear.  Your key words/tags also look good.  I haven't got any suggestions other than to wait, sometimes it takes awhile to get a sale, just keep your chin up and continue to submit cards.  Lots of luck,
Linda

Thanks so much for all the fast replies  Cheesy

Thanks Linda for your comment saying I'm on the right track! That's good to know.

And thanks Corrie for all your marketing links, I'm off to check them out  Wink

I guess i really just need to be more patient!

Would you say it's better to create very specific cards instead of general ones? I was thinking that would be a way to make my cards easier to find!

Claire,
It has been my experience that the more specific the card, the better.  I also sometimes make an effort to check out the categories (and sub-categories) that have fewer cards and then design for them.  But to answer your question, yes, the more specific the better in my opinion.  Because the majority of cards seem to be sold via keyword searches, one needs to be diligent in that area and as specific as possible.  Try to think like a shopper.

I love your cards! I know it can be frustrating at first, waiting for those sales to come in, but they will! There is lots of great advice from artists who are doing very well. My sister and I have had success beyond anything I could have believed at this site. I would say the most important things to consider are: Keep designing, keep adding cards as much as you can. Keep quality in mind, just offer your best, and do your research! The cards you like the best aren't nessecarily the cards your customers want. My top selling design is a card I only made because I researched what sold best on this site. I almost didn't even make it, and my sister thought I was crazy! Then sales started rolling in. We have sold a crazy amount of cards with that design! So I guess the other tip is think outside the box!
