Frameable Art Cards?
Mar 12th, 2010, 9:06am

Do we have a category for frameable art cards? The card size is just right for framing and it would be an economical way to decorate a home or office.

I think that is a great idea for frameable art cards. Would that mean on a mat for a 5" x 7" card the image would fit in an area 4.5" x 6.5"? It's something to keep in mind anyway when designing cards.

when i designed the victorian ladies series for my store i did a white border all the way around  and did an inset so it would look like a mat.  i did them all the same for just this purpose, to allow for a wall art collection

i need to order some of mine to make sure i have the border wide enough to allow for trimming and still have plenty around the edges.. i think i did but you never know.   i need to do this today probably.  they have cautioned us on borders and i did try to do an extra wide one because of that.

You would have to allow a border with no image in the area to allow for a frame, or at least make sure nothing "vital" was on the edge, then again, they do make acrylic frames that don't have a colored border. A person purchasing the card could also mat it and use a large frame, which would be stunning.

no nibbles on a "propah victohreean laydee"  here but on Z there have been.  i only have part of them on there so far.  hope not to offend with my southern accent, i am from Tennessee.

Sandra.. i also took that into consideration.  double matting would be really nice for these.  i tried to have these where a commercial 8x10 mat would work, that is why i need to order a couple so i can be sure

Perfectly answered!

I know you are much more savvy at this sort of thing than I, and may already do this, but I wonder if/how you approach websites that cater to and love everything Victorian. I can only think a victorian website or blog host would LOVE to be able to offer such things and with these new links that get a seller commission........... Just thoughts.

Great Idea for cards with No Text On front...I have been putting those kind of  cards in the "Fine Art" category, I created my 'first banner' to say, "Hang `n Frame Cards."
Here is a fine art card I just sold yesterday, with a white boarder I think is great to hang n frame.
It`s a sketch I did of V.V. Gogh`s "Starry Night Painting."

Denise, from what I`ve seen of your Blog, you`re a great marketer.

hmm mine are 4x6 inside... but i think some of the double mats are tighter and they could put them in the float frames or snap in frames that do not use a mat. so i am not going to worry about the sizing inside as much.  good ideas  and information

Instead of a category specific to 'Frameable Art Cards' (I think ALL GCU cards, being 5x7 standard frame or matte size to begin with, are already Frameable Art Cards) - why not give Blank Greeting Note Card Category a boost and call it Blank Greeting Note Cards/Frameable Art. Fuel for thought because wouldn't Frameable Art Cards just be blank cards anyway (albeit some of the most beautiful ever and fab fine art print quality too!) Cheers, Lisa

Lisa-

Great idea about simply changing or adding to the category name of the blank and/or note cards by calling them" frame-able" art cards or something like that.  It might help those cards get a little more exposure.

I have had a number of my cards purchased to be matted and framed.  Most standard pre-cut 8x10 mats have an opening that is just under 5x7, making them perfect to mat a GCU card.
