I'm thinking about making some but also wondering if it would be a waste of my time if note cards aren't big sellers and most people want greeting cards.....anyone have any insight? Cheryl

Hi Cheryl,

I personally have stopped making them. I made many of them when I first joined last April, however of the nearly 800 cards I've sold since then, not a single one of them was a blank card. So maybe it depends on the theme of the blank card? I'm hoping others will reply and give us an idea what % of their sales are blank cards. I too would be interested.

I make sure to write in the artists notes that the card can be used for any occasion and they can add any words that they wish. So - no- I don't think you are wasting your time with them

What I usually do is make one blank and use the same image to make a card with a message. Sandra F

I've been warned they don't sell, but since I've barely sold any cards in the whole time I've been here, I guess it doesn't really matter. I just assume nobody is seeing my cards and am still trying to figure out how to get people to see them. Since I do photographs rather than designing cards around an occasion, sometimes blank cards are all I can do until I think of some text to go with them. But I really don't know why they wouldn't sell as long as people know that any text can be added for any occasion.

Reply #5 - Mar 11^th, 2010, 11:47pm Eh, can't hurt but try so I might do a few. @ Robin..... something you could try is adding more tags, I had a look and a lot of your cards only have 3-4 words....look and see what tags other people are using to get some ideas. More tags, more people will see your cards. Cheryl

I have not sold any blank cards but I do see some go by on the just sold.

I find that most of mine get very little if any traffic. I think it may be that this is not the best venue for 'browsing' customers which I think is what often sells a blank card. undecided

I do think it is just more advantageous to have more specific occasion cards than blank cards in this particular venue, unless we market blank cards ourselves to local retailers, where the browsing public are.

Reply #7 - Mar 12^th, 2010, 5:09am We sell about 400-600 cards a month, usually maybe 10 of those are blank...and we have alot of blank cards! I do the same as some of the other artists, I will make one blank and then one with a message inside if I feel like it's an appropriate card to do so.

I sell about 5 blank note cards a year. A very small percentage of my overall sales - probably because they get lost in the crowd. Like several of the other artists, I will make 1 blank note version and 2 other specific versions, but only if I can't think of a better use for the image.

Customers come to this site w/a purpose in mind - buying a "Greeting card" for great aunt's birthday, holiday, thank you for... etc. I figure that if they really want a blank card they can just delete my message from any of my images and make their own. -Di
