GCU Forum - Widget Issue

Kathy_131728 Gold Member artist Posts: 610	Widget Issue Feb 26^th, 2010, 2:35pm Hi GCU, Today I noticed that there is a problem with my widgets. It appears that the pictures of my cards are no longer showing up just a nice white square. However, you can still click to buy cards Anyone else having this problem? Kathy

Hi Doreen,
Very nice of you to check if yours is working. I appreciate it. Which version do you have installed the Flash or Java? I had the flash, so I changed it to Java just now. I can see the widget working on the GCU page, but I get nothing when I put the code on my blog. Odd. It was working just the other day, as I made a sale through it so I am not sure what to do or what to think. Perhaps I will just not worry about it until next week.

Hi Kathy,

I use the Flash and I just checked the one on my blog (just in case it was a blogging issue) and it seems fine too.

Maybe the host of your blogging site has a glitch that is temporarily affecting the imported HTML code? I would wait 24-hours and then check again or if you can, install the widget on another site to see if it is only on your blog that it doesn't work.

Shaun, I will send you a link to my blog. The widget is not working on any of my sites. I am using the Flash widget. There is just a white spot where my cards should be flashing by, but you do go to my store when you select Buy My Cards. I checked under Manage Store Card Widget and the widget there looks exactly the same as it does on my blog (white box where cards should be flying by). Very strange as I know it was working. When I tried to install the javascript widget I got nothing, so I stuck with the flash widget which at least will link to my store.

I use the flash and request that other people that 'had' the java please use the flash for my blog. [the java' were what I call bleeding code and messing up all the other widgets] I put 'had' There hasn't been anything on the widgets including mine, for months!!!!!

This is still an issue, and is still in our programmer's queue. At the moment it would appear as though you can replace the flash widget with the JavaScript widget and it should display your cards correctly.

Yes, this is interesting. I tried this tonight. I tried to install the Java code and got nothing when I installed it. I went back to the flash widget because at least I get the part where someone can click to buy my cards. This is really odd because when I go to the Card Widget portion of my GCU page I see my widget when it is set to JavaScript widget with my cards running by. I guess what really baffles me is why others are not having this same problem?

I am sorry that you guys are having the same issue though. I know the programmers will be looking at it, so hopefully they will be able to figure it out shortly. It is a bit of a mystery though.
