More personalized site
Feb 9th, 2010, 6:39am

How difficult would it be to personalize this site more? I would like to see groups form, like
Animal, Landscapes, Abstracts, Pets, People, Cartoons and so on. I think this would give shoppers another way to see what interests them and form closer bonds for the artists too.
GCU is a nice place but it is rather boring. JMHO Roll Eyes

Hi Didi, please tell me more about what you mean by "groups"?

As for shoppers finding cards in these "groups" or interest areas they can do that now simply by going to the category or entering search terms.  But I don't think that's what you had in mind.

Are you bored as an artist here or do you think shoppers find our site boring?  Huh

Hi Mindy,
I wouldn't presume to suggest shoppers are bored.
I just feel kind of disconnected from the other artists
on this site. Groups may bring artists together that have similar interests.
For instance, a landscape photographer may find it inspiring to see what
other landscape photographers are doing in a more compact area than just
typing in landscapes. A "group" would go that extra step to enter some of
their work in a special place. Of course this is for us that have more time to
enjoy others work.
Hope I have been more clear, thank you for asking.

Hi Didi,

As you know each person is a world apart. What seems to discourage you, it is extremely attractive to me - to have the possibility to interact and receive feedback from all kinds of artists with all kinds of interests.

I find it awesomely enriching and I have learned a lot from various different artist interested in completely different artistic medium of expression.

I am in different artistic sites and I am much more interested in this forum than any other one, because of its variety, dynamism, and just the outstanding artists and support team.

So Mindy, here you have the other version of interest within the plight. I would love to have the forum as it is now - plural and global.

Hi Leonilde,
I sure appreciate what you are saying, I too like all kinds of work, just some more than others.
It's nice to enjoy the status quo, but I also enjoy change/growth and improving. Which brings me back to my original question.
Thank you so much for replying. Smiley

I see, food for thought.  It could be as simple as some subtopics in Artist Chatter.  If anyone is interested in testing the waters perhaps suggest some Topics and we'll create them.

I do a lot of photography, and have no problem finding inspiration from like minded people on the internet. This is a commercial site to sell greetings cards, not an club. Diversifying and trying to be everything to everybody could end up diluting the focus of the site. Please concentrate on what you do best, selling cards, there are plenty of places that cater to artists and their egos!
