Multiple image deletion
Feb 8th, 2010, 1:32pm

I am not sure if this is already on the wish list...

We can delete the images one at a time. I want to delete many images I no longer need but keep postponing it because deleting one by one takes time. It would be good to have multiple delete feature - a check-box under each image and a single 'Delete' button.

If this is on wish list, I would like to add my vote  Smiley

Hi
I suggested this some time ago as I agree it is time consuming, I wanted to clear all my used card images from the library as they were no longer needed, with thousands of cards it was a mammoth task!
I did find a quick "cheat" and did it that way, but it still took ages.
Click on delete then confirm it, but before the page refreshes do the same again as many times as you like for the images on the page, then when you stop the page will refresh and delete all the images you chose to delete, in one go. It might be a bit more difficult if you only want to delete selected images but if you want to just delete in batches it works great!

Are we talking about the Uploaded Images page?

Curious, why the push to delete them?   Are they in your way?  Do they slow you down?

The original files may still be connected to the created cards for use in regenerating the card images if needed in an emergency (backup so to speak) or removing/adding watermarks based on artist changing their watermark setting.

Mindy, just to let you know, I find it easier to delete each uploaded image after I use it and thus always create from the first-row, first column "spot."  I still have many pages of older uploaded images left over from when I wasn't deleting along the way though.

The reason I delete as I go is that I tend now to upload several pages of cards at a time, and usually these are identical looking cards with maybe just a new relationship or holiday text on the front.  Since the upload area thumbnails are small, it is hard to tell one identical looking card from the next and so it is very easy to lose one's spot if one were trying to keep all images there.

Once uploaded, I create using the card in slot "1" then delete it, moving on to creating with the next inline that moves into slot one.  By doing this, it assures that I actually create cards from each one I've uploaded and it also avoids creating the same card more than once which is easy to do when you are doing a series.  I recently did over 100 cards this way and I can't imagine trying to locate the last one I did which may be on page 3, row 2, column 4!  It just is inefficient and prone to error that way.

I suspect other "high volume" uploaders have discovered the same thing I have and they now "delete as they go."

Absolutely, Tom, I have found the "delete as you go" method to be the best one for me.  It helps me keep up with where I am in designing the cards, and I can always upload the image again from my computer if I find that it's needed.

Wasn't is Sean who said that we should delete our cards after creating? I have not time to look for the post, but I am sure we were encouraged to do this a while ago.

Not really....just that I was trying to clean up work area so that I see only what I need.
And also thought they might be taking storage space unnecessarily. So thought I will do my bit by deleting them.

'Delete as you go' policy sounds good. That will avoid further piling up.

OFFICIALLY CONFIRMATION from head of programming  IT IS OK TO DELETE these images!

Specifically we're talking about this Create a Card page:

We'll see if we can add a simple bulk delete function.

We have added a Delete All Images function for bulk deletion on the Uploaded Images page.  It should be live by this evening 3/9.

You'll find it  here at the far right under step #3:

Hope this helps, let us know if this makes life easier  Smiley
