Reminder services e-mails
Feb 7th, 2010, 9:55am

I have just had several reminder e-mails for Valentines day and I think this is a great service.

However, I have noticed that not only do the different services often use some the same cards but that an artist may be represented more than once within an e-mail. When there are only 6 places available it seems unfair to the other artists that not only may an artist be featured on more than one e-mail, but featured more than once on the same e-mail.

I was going to bring this up last December when I received a reminder e-mail for my dauthter-in-law's birthday and of the 6 slots, one artist was represented 5 times but decided to ignore it (they were very nice cards by the way), but it keeps happening. It cannot be hard to select different cards for the different reminders and to ensure that different artists are shown, can it?

The cards chosen are all very nice cards so I do not have an issue with the cards themselves - just that I think it should be shared around a bit.  Smiley

Can you tell that I've never seen one of mine on an e-mail reminder Grin Grin

I totally agree, doesn't seem fair to play favorites. Sad

I think each reminder to each recipient may be different.  My aunt forwarded her reminder email to me because it featured one of my cards (similar to one of mine she had purchased in the past), but the cards in my reminder email were not the same as hers.  Perhaps the reminders are computer generated.  It would be interesting to learn what criteria are used to choose the featured cards.

I know the feeling. I can't say for sure, I think it's based on how much cards a store sells. I don't sell much as I don't have much, lol. I'm slowly working on that Wink. I draw my own cards and sometimes do some in computer drawing which is not much as my skills on computer coloring are not so great. It also could be I'm getting so old, lol. I can only say this, make tons of cards you think others will enjoy. The wedding cards seems to be in great need and meny have been sold there. I'm no wedding card maker and I leave that to others that do that well. What ever you best at is the best way to go Wink. Good luck in trying to be in the favorites card thingy. I don't think I was ever there at all. Well, maybe I was at one time or another, I never check Wink.

It is an automated process and has nothing to do with fairness nor hand selected favorites.  It is based on matching cards to the profile of the reminder (for example: birthday, female, 30, mother).  The matching is automated and ranks cards as they match to the profile of the reminder and cards are chosen - with some amount of randomness - to be suggested.  With such a large inventory of cards many cards "tie" in the ranking so factors like the most popular formula come into play.  We do not, nor do we plan to at this time, put any searches/limits on artist.

Email reminders differ greatly across all of our Reminder Service sites in respect to when paper cards are suggested (30 day, 14 day, 7 day reminder, etc.) as well as how many cards are suggested in each reminder (3 cards, 6 cards, no cards, etc).
