card approval time
Feb 5th, 2010, 6:00pm

Hi Mindy-

I haven't submitted any cards for a while, and in the meantime GCU is growing by leaps and bounds so I know you are all busy! But I submitted two Valentine's Day cards ID #561213 and ID# 561206 late Sunday 1/31 and they are still not approved. It's probably too late now for any Valentine's Day sales, but I would like to get them in my store. Did they get lost? And by the way, thanks to whomever for picking my candy hearts Valentine for the GCU Picks category. I've only had two cards chosen for this category, but it's a thrill each time!
Thanks,
Pat 131634

Right now it is taking around a week for cards to be approved give or take a day or so..... so your cards are probably not lost just stuck in line  Wink

No doubt this is the #1 complaint of artists, and it is not good for GCU's reputation either. Word is getting around!  SAD!

I know for me it has impacted my productivity and contributions here.  It was suppose to be getting better after Christmas.  What happened?

I'd suggest a 2010 "New Year's Resolution" is for GCU to acheive and maintain a 24-hour average and a 48-hour max commitment on card approvals for artists.  We deserve this don't we?

How can we help make this possible?

Grin Yeah right. Like THAT's gonna happen   Cheesy

The approval time for my cards is always around a week.
Surely it would be better for GCU to have more reviewers ?
More reviewers =  more new cards for customers
More cards = more sales for GCU
Win win situation if you ask me  Grin

I have to agree with Tom and many others that this is a motivation crusher. You work so hard just to wait, and it's hard to time anything or know when to start advertising your new cards because the cards are not there. Took over a week one time and then it was a small thing about a category and I just said hell move it to the correct one for me and pass the card. I had to do it, and then it took another 4 days for it to go through.

Preaching to the choir I know but I think stories need to be shared because they say just a few day and that is simply not true.

I've been in customer service for over 15 years, and this is truly the part of the service that does not service us or the clients...

Other then that it's a good place, and could be great if they address the issues...

In MY Opinion,
Markess

I agree, somehow the approval issue needs to be addressed.  I love the "wave the approval" addition, but that is only good for a request (don't get me wrong, I think it is great for requests), but the card goes into the "private gallery" and therefore its exposure is very limited.  Wish I had a solution to this huge, frustrating, discouraging issue.  I too wonder how we can help.

Yes, it is frustrating to me too.  Especially since 'back in the days' when I joined (over 2 years ago) it generally took no more than a couple of days.  Guess we were spoiled.  I have thought of addressing the issue with Mindy and Shaun, myself... but I think of the last time they added more people to the rolls for the approval process and lordy the mess we had in getting our cards approved!  I don't want to go through that process/rejection again!  So I guess I remained quiet out of fear of rejection...   Grin
You know we love you GCU, we're just feeling the growing pains too... and wondering if we can't somehow work together to keep everyone happy.

I believe that the review process is good for GCU and us, yes, I would like it to be faster but I make do with what I have. I understand the frustrations of new artists wanting to see their cards in their new store, and that of the longer serving members that might be thinking, “It was not like this when I joined”.

GCU is growing and more artists join every day. So is the approval time getting longer because of the ever-increasing number of cards, or is there a backlog of some kind, maybe some of the reviewers have been off work sick? If there is a backlog of some kind then maybe GCU could put a daily upload limit for a short time to help them back on top of things.  Shocked

We can also help each other by being extra careful with picking categories, tags, spelling and grammar. The reviewers write us a note telling us what we need to change to get the card approved. If this is happening for hundreds of cards a day then that is hundreds of cards that should have got approved first time and hundreds more that did not get looked at because the reviewer was writing us a note.

Ok will run for cover now.

I agree Tom.  It was frustrating, but understandable that Oct/Nov/Dec were slow review months, however I'm with you on not understanding why it not only remains unimproved, but in fact is even longer!  7 to 10 days!?!?!

I am 100% for the thorough review process that GCU demands here, I think it is a positive thing and I certainly would not want it to go away, however, if GCU can not keep up with the artists then it is time to bring in more reviewers.

It certainly would be nice to hear what is going on behind the scenes that is causing this tremendous, and no longer temporary, delay.

I don't check how many cards are to be reviewed very often but today it shows over 3,000 that seems an awful lot. Has anyone been looking on a regular basis, has that been the norm lately? Huh

How do you check the number of cards to be reviewed?

Agree it's very frustrating at the moment waiting for the cards to be approved.

4,088 cards listed "to be approved" today at 5:00 AM EST....hope that is a "glitch" in the system.

I've had cards that have taken longer than a week to get approved--some close to two weeks.
