After the Artist's storefront
Feb 2nd, 2010, 11:58pm

The storefront does a good job of introducting products to shoppers, but on subsequent pages I would like to see:

1.  The product gallery default to 128 cards per page.  Showing only 20 per page makes paging very irritating and likely drives shoppers away.  It also makes it very hard to compare a card on page 1 to a card on a later page.  Actually adding a compare feature would be smart too.  I have 5 pages of bridesmaids cards, and making these changes would really be embraced by the shopper as they simply have one page to scroll to see them all and compare, for instance.  A "Show all on one page" button might work in addition.

2.  Do not display the testimonials on any page other than the main storefront page.  Once shoppers are off of page one, they are there to browse and buy, and so I think it is best to use the space to do that.

Both of these quick fixes should improve the capture rate.  Also, I'd suggest Idea #1 be implemented on the sitewide browse pages.  The default of 32 cards/page just seems too low imo.

Respectfully submitted,

TOM

Whole heartedly agree with No. 1.....there needs to be more cards shown on the page. I have always thought so. Maybe we or the shopper can choose how many cards per page we want shown, have seen that option on many sites.

As Usual..Wonderful Suggestions Tom!
Id also like to add...making the "Search My Store Module" go across the top of those changed pages...like we see *in blue...but, have the blue color changeable so we can match it to our store colors. I think that will make it even easier for searchers to find what they are searching for...since they are searching more pages.
Does that make sense?
Hugs, Janis

Excellent suggestions, Tom! I think that the compare feature would get a lot of use. I know that I like to use it when I come across it when online shopping. Also, any improvements to the site search engine would be much appreciated. I know that it's a work in progress but an update on that would good too.

Cheers,

Thanks for suggesting these changes, Tom. More cards on each page would keep the buyers looking longer without getting bored and impatient.

Friends I know who have visited my store have had the same frustrations Tom noted and each time I feel like I have to apologize for keeping such a disorganized store. embarrassed

Also most marketing done by artists directs the customer to their store, and it's likely the person is there because they like what that artist does, instead of a specific occasion in mind. So I think it would be great to improve on what we have.

So great Ideas Tom,
Yes please to ALL if it's possible

Yes more images per page load - would be fantastic - give the customer the option of how many they want to load at a time. I just realized how much better Bing Images is in this respect compared to Google Images!

Also in Manage Cards do we really need that mainly empty column down the right hand side? I would prefer more columns of cards and just the search box at the top rather than on the side,

I would also like to see a more streamlined way of editing our cards in manage cards and a faster way of deleting cards in create a card.

Tom, you are the stats guru... dare I say I have seen a steep decline in sales from the associated companies since profiling ceased. anyone else seen this too? Perhaps I should just check my own numbers.
