How do you leave cards blank inside?
Jan 21st, 2010, 5:11pm

I want to be able to create cards, but leave them blank.  My cards keep getting returned as unapproved because I have to write inside text.  How do I leave them as blank cards?

Hi Jessica,
You can certainly leave cards blank, although we've found cards w/ inside verses well better.  The catch is that your cover image needs to then stand on its own and be fitting for the category you have chosen.

For example a photo of a lovely red rose although fitting for I Love You or Be my Valentine can not go in those categories unless there is something more, usually text, that literally or strongly implies those occasions.  Otherwise it would go in Collections >> Flowers & Garden and/or Collections >> Blank Cards and/or Collections >> Photography - all non-occasion specific.

Hope that helps.  Let us know if you have more q's.

Thanks for response Mindy.  I understand and and see what you mean.  I guess my other concern would be, that since verse isn't my strength, my cards would be rejected by potential buyers because they think what it says is stupid.

Any suggestions?

Hi Jessica

It is so true what Mindy has said about including a verse gives more chance of a sale.

If you really get stuck for words, my advise would be to take a look around at some of the categories that your cards are suitable for and see what other artists use for verses... don't just copy the original ones cause the artists don't like that but you sure can get some good ideas of your own by doing that.

Hi, Jessica!

I'm not an expert, but, I did want to give you an opinion on the inside verses.  You can't really go wrong with the basics like, "Happy Mother's Day,"  "Hope you're feeling better soon," "Happy Birthday," and the like, so why not use those and work yourself into your comfort zone in writing?

One thing that I do, is to put myself into the shoes of the person who is going to be giving the card, and think about what I would say to my mom on Mother's Day, or my uncle on his birthday.  I think that the reason why many people buy cards with verses, as opposed to blank inside, is that they don't know what to say, so they need a little help.  Smiley  I also think that it helps to carry the outside message of the card to the inside.  For example, I have a birthday card with sunflowers on the outside, and my inside verse is simple:  Have a sunshine day!

In general, I say, just go for it, write what YOU think and feel to be funny, cute, touching, etc. and people will hear that voice of truth in your words and make them their own.  Put yourself and your thoughts out there and see what happens!

Just my 2-cents!

Good luck, you've got a nice start to your store!

Excellent advice here from Penny!   Cheesy

There is certainly nothing wrong with keeping it simple AND shoppers will appreciate a verse that is related to your image.
