Help!

Okay Im confused, I just made a animated gif card for my first ever offered Free eCard. I wanted it to be a gift to my customers and anyone who wants it. So i finally found at the top of GCU, the free ecards link but in the end it only let me send it to an email person. How do i make the eCard available to all or go into that eCard selection area?

Sorry if this has been asked a million times but i couldnt find the answer.

Second, I sent the card to myself to chk it out and make sure its working...not working, the card came but the animation isn't working, and yes i saved/uploaded in gif format, and its 5x7 (1500 x 2100 pixels at 300 dpi).

Third in the email it didnt work and it said if it wasnt working to click here, which took me to GCU page, it didnt work then it said to install Adobe Flash Player so i did. Refreshed page still nothing. rebooted and went back to email to test and...same results animation doesnt work.

i am surprised no one has answered this... the animated cards are strictly part of GCU and its partner stores.  we do not make any animated cards or the site wide available e-cards.  only those offered directly from your store as regular cards with the ecard option checked on.  or at least that is my understanding

oh no now my head hurts...lol

Then how did all those other artists manage to get theirs in there?

Cause no where in regular uploading images can you upload a gif formatted image only offers: Image Requirements
File Format: RGB JPEG (.jpg)

nor anywhere is their a check mark for ecard like youre talking about.

Can admin answer this please I'd appreciate it.

Okay i just found this in another forum:
"back in the day we could opt to have cards available as free ecards right from our store.  Could click on certain cards that we would allow a shopper to send for free via the net...that feature has been disabled, and there has been chatter about offering an email card service for a fee, but to my knowledge that hasn't been implimented yet.  ...Linda... "

So i guess we dont get to offer eCards.....hmmmm
Can we submit them to GCU and if they like it they can use it as part of their promotion?
Mine is for Valentines day! and it came out really good!   cry

i believe they had those in place from the beginning.  hopefully someone can tell you.  corrie has been here almost from the first, she probably knows.  unless they have moved it when you are putting your description and categories there is a box to check that says offer this card as an e-card or something to that effect.  i will look and come back to tell you.

okay it is not on that page anymore... now you go to the homepage, you have to be logged in to the site,  at the top where the blue tabs are that say

Home   Free eCards      Manage Store  Order History      Forum    My Favorite Cards      GCU Blog  GCU on Facebook

click on Free ecards  then click on the left side where it says    Photo eCards Turn your photos into eCards

Its FREE and EASY!

that is where all your uploaded images are        --  not completed cards, just images... you make a new card to be offered as an ecard.

Lisa, the animated e-cards you see under "Free ecards" were not created by GCU artists. They were likely purchased as a package by GCU from a company that supplies such things. Artists cannot upload animated gifs or Flash-based ecards, nor can artists put static ecards into that area.

You *can* turn one of your greeting cards into an ecard by going to Free eCards (the link at the top of the page) and using the Photo eCards feaure - a workaround that's being used by some artists to send samples to their custom card customers. This will only work on cards you have already uploaded. Go read this thread for details:

And remember, no animated gifs or Flash - that won't work. Only jpgs. And customers using the Free eCards feature won't see them. You're the only one, I think.

Corrie and Denise are correct, the flash and animated gif ecards on our site have been in place since GCU was launched, these were not created by our artist community.  We currently do not allow artists to add their own animated ecards to our free ecard offering although we do plan to add this functionality at some point in the future.  Sorry for the confusion.

Thanks Shaun & Corrie for clearing up this issue, I knew it wasnt me not doing it correctly.

I will say this perhaps this would be another way to help cross promote our cards. Perhaps just a small Module of us artists who are allowed to add ONLY 1 (including animated) free ecard, and have it link back to our sites which in turn could result in other sales to us.  And a "My Special free eCard for visiting" spot on our own store. This then would not adversely effect the review load.
Offering customers a freebie is always a hands up on the competition (other print by demand sites).
