Why sign in every time we come to Forum

It is so annying, why do we have to sign in every time we want to take part in the forum. Even if we are already signed in to the website. Huh

Don't forget us country bumkins who are still on dial up! We have what we want to say all sorted out in our head, all ready to put it down on paper and BANG! oh darn, got to sign in again. So we sign in AND we don't get straight back to where we were Roll Eyes

No we slowly make out way back to 'Manage Store' and then we have to start on our journey back to where we were when we got our brilliant idea

Good we are back... but we have forgotten what we wanted to say in the first place cry

Can you please try to make the journey shorter for us because right now taking part in the forum can be an hours worth of work for us. Rosemary

I know what you mean Rosemary! I have the same frustrations AND it seems silly that I remain logged into my store so I can change anything I want and rarely am I asked to login, yet I have to login separately every time I want to post on the forum Grin

Can this be streamlined? I think the real issue here is, it seems that the 'remember me' box on the forum login is not functioning or not functioning well. Can this be looked into?

I wrote about this before and thought they were fixing something so at least the email notification would take us to the forum post, but nothing changed. I agree - I often don't bother to respond anymore because it is too much of a hassle to sign in again and then search to find the post I wanted to respond to because the email messages have absolutely no information to help you get there.

Now Cafe Press - for instance and regardless of the bad I may have to say about them at this point - when they send an email forum update it includes the actual post in the email, so you can read it and then go directly there from the email link. You do still have to sign in if you haven't already, but it takes you to the conversation. Surely GCU can do better than what they do now.

We recently changed the way that the site treats cookies so that if you leave GCU, and close your browser, you'll still be logged in to the site when you return. This change allows visitors who are not members of the site to add an item to their shopping cart, then leave the site and come back at some point in the future and retain the items that were in their cart.

The forum unfortunately is not able to take advantage of this change, so while you may return to the site and remain logged in to your artist account, you won't be logged in to the forum. I'll pass this on to the programming team to see if there is any way to correct this, but I'm not sure if it is something we can fix.

I use one tab for GCU and 2-3 others for my other activities. Since it's best to keep PCs running, I keep mine on and the browser open at all times, therefore I never log out (isn't this obvious!)

That doesn't help me because I don't keep my computer running all the time and I do not know many people who do in their homes. Especially here in the sticks where very often our computers go off when we don't want them to go off anyway. I have only just got XP about eighteen months ago, until then I was still working on Windows 98, there again a lot of people around here are still on 98 and they do not have tabs from what I can remember. I know businesses keep their computers on but I don't think it is general practise in the home is it? Rosemary

I don't keep mine on Rosemary, I shut it down every night.
