Easier customization of inside verse/info
Nov 18th, 2009, 6:35am

I know this has been brought up before, but I wondered if anything is in the works for improving the customizing the inside of cards?
As artists we learn to navigate the quirks of the alignment of the verse or inside message but I have to think this is not straightforward enough for the customers.

If a customer clicks personailze card, and clicks on the box to edit content decides not to and does NOTHING to the verse but hits SAVE (instead of CANCEL or close the window) the alignment of the verse shifts up a line or two. Why?
Upon inserting the change of a few words the whole alignment can go off completely, leaving them to fiddle around and waste time trying to get things set up looking right again.
This is particularly frustrating if a customer wants to add their info to the inside of an invitation rather than ordering it 'as is' to be hand written. The whole set up can be messed up and few customers have the time or the patience to play around with this. They want to get their info in there and feel good about it, not frustrated.

Some considerations...

Stop the 'upward shift' of the verse just for opening the edit window.

Clearer instant 'centering/left/right alignment buttons' for the verse in the card and a button that centers top to bottom.

A wider fixed view that can accommodate wording all the way across the card (esp.when aligned left/landscape) easier when in filling in invitations.

The ability to see complete card view of the verse/info in the card as you put in type, so you can align , size, etc, instead of having to save and pull up larger image.

These are just a few that come to mind, with the promotion of customized photo cards it seems this would be a hand in hand improvement that's much needed.

Can we make it more 'simple stupid'. kiss

I'd like to wholeheartedly second all of these suggestions. Pamela has made very valid points here, articulately expressed, and I am wondering (hoping) along with her if some attention might be paid to this not unimportant subject.

I'm certain that such changes would be enthusiastically welcomed by any customer seeking to personalize a carefully chosen card. (We who are 'backstage' manage but would also be most grateful, dare I say...)

Thanks for your consideration!

I completely agree Pamela!
This has always irritated me, (the back and forthing to check if it looks correct)...but never thought to mention it here, and I'm so glad you did!
You are so right, if a customer who isn't too 'savvy' tries it, it might be enough to have them leave the site completely.
I wish they'd expand the choice of fonts also, and be able to see them as they are typed as this also can throw off an 'alignment' of text.
I guess all this costs them money to implement? But if it keeps sales here on the site, it'd be worth it, and also make our lives a little easier.
Thanks for bringing it up! kiss

I would also like to see this put into place...

I manage an online friends group on WEBS...and if any of you are in an online group...you know its a no brainer to navigate.

This can be implemented by a simple tool bar on top of the verse box.

B   A^   Av   = = =    Aa   +++

Bold, Increase Size,  Decrease Size,  Right-Center-Left,  Font Style,  Font Color Box,
All with little icons, and when you put your curser on the icon, a little box comes up and tells you what its for.

It prints out the way you type it in, Sentences, paragraphs..
(what you see is what you get...) when you click *Submit.

I think It would work great for customers and us artists.
Hugs, Janet Lee

We'll see what we can do to prevent the "upward shift" as this sounds like it might be a bug.  I'll pass the other recommendations on to the programmers to see if any can be implemented at some point in the future.
