Marketing Web Site Grader
Oct 26th, 2009, 11:48am

I was using this marketing grader for other sites I have created.  Thought I would try it on my GCU store.  Very interesting results.  If you would like to try it, go to http://websitegrader.com  and enter your store URL and your email address.  You will receive the report via email.

You can do a comparison report which is also very interesting.

Main url for this site is http://www.hubspot.com.

Yes, interesting., not that I really understand what it is telling me!  embarrassed

I tried the http://artist.greetingcarduniverse.com/comicalcaptions  and got a 47 score with 1 inbound link but then I tried the http://www.greetingcarduniverse.com/comicalcaptions and got a 61 score with 217 inbound links.

SO .. use the NON ARTIST link when you are posting your site.  The "artist" URL is a different server and is there mainly so we don't interfere with the server that buyers are using.

Your right.          its useful information.
Understanding the net is about seeing information properly

I like GCU ,because of the information viewing tools GCU gives us
I have learned to improve cards by looking at stats

Seeing information is a big plus to learning ,

I look for tools to see traffic details  to help improve our 6 active web addresses.
This was usefull

we have  www.valx.us                             main web directory
             www.valxart.com                      PC Software
             www.macro-bite.com                 macrobiotics
             www.mymemorial.name            memorial art
             www.valx.us/videohome.htm      free arttune video
             www.Backyarddelights.blip.tv     free arttune video

Its easy to create a web site but not as easy to learn to permote them
after .I looked my GCU and my other web sites and saw i had plenty of room for improvement

Tom,
I've been wondering what's the difference between artist and non-artist sites. I've seen "greetingcarduniverse.com" and GCU.com. So, which is which?

thanks in advance,
elizabeth

Hi Elizabeth,

First up, I'm not Tom  Wink but the difference between the artist and non-artist sites should be something like this:

Many companies have multiple "subdomains" in order to shift traffic or a particular function around. This is the definition from Wikipedia: "Subdomains are commonly used by organizations that wish to assign a unique name to a particular department, function, or service related to the organization. For example, a university might assign "cs" to the computer science department, such that a number of hosts could be used inside that subdomain, such as mail.cs.example.edu or www.cs.example.edu."

GCU uses at least one subdomain that I have seen which is artist.greetingcarduniverse.com. GCU.com is a completely different web site and seems to have nothing to do with Greeting Card Universe.

Hope that this helps.

Cheers,

Rosanne

Thanks Kathleen for posting this...it was indeed interesting, and fun!
Tom I did it first with www.greetingcarduniverse/avisnoelledesigns and got the 47 score with 1 inbound link...same as you. I missed off the http:// as the example didn't show it and I don't think it made any difference.

This information was more for GCU to read through to see how they're doing than for me, as it isn't my personal website, and they need to brush up on a few things according to the information I read.
I have 3 Google indexed pages according to this report. However I haven't got that many cards compared to some, so I assume it's counting pages of cards. It says we have far too many images...I had a chuckle at that!

However...I did it again, and used the artist.greetingcarduniverse/avisnoelledesigns and this time I got 50 with 0 inbound links. The info was slightly different. This time my indexed pages were 2 as opposed to 3.

I noticed it took 'forever' for the result to finally process...as if it were having trouble, but then....I did my Zazzle store.  The score appeared almost instantly, and it was a 91 Shocked

Zazzle has been around longer, and scored highly on just about everything, they have covered all the bases. Tom, if you haven't already, I recommend you get a card store there! You'd do great!
I had a Google page rank of 3 with Zazzle and with GCU?...it showed N/A

So all in all, GCU needs to brush up on some stuff, their domain expires next August, and they said in this report you should have a long expiry date 'cos even that counts against you! You might 'go under' is the perception I guess.
Plus the GCU blog didn't show as being found!
So good information for them to take in and devote some time to.

It's all very enlightening, I'm looking around right now to get my own website, and I'm glad I did this as it's helpful to see what makes a difference out in cyberspace! Thanks again Kathleen. kiss
