Deleting Images
Jul 25^th, 2009, 5:59am

Can't remember where I read this.... but is it o.k. to delete the images I have uploaded once they have been approved and are in my shop? No need to have images on the "create image page" if they have already been approved, right? Want to make absolutely sure before I start deleting. Thanks for any help on this. Also, is there a fast way to do this other than one-by-one?

And let me know if you find one (quick delete) it drives me mad, deleting from the last page and when refreshed goes back to the first, a mass kill button would be nice wich check boxes but heyho Hugs -moonie-

And Moonie, I agree, it would be WONDERFUL to have a Mass Delete Button with checkboxes. That and NOT having the default revert back to the first page every time you make a delete would make life so much easier. Kathy

Just by chance - I thought I'd send some e-cards of my own designs (meaning photo e-cards, available to anyone by uploading an image to this site, not the free e-cards offered by GCU) - I very recently discovered a much easier way to delete images. Granted, it is not a mass-delete function, but it's much simpler and faster, because all the images are brought up onto one long page and quickly reappear after a deletion:

Log in>>Free eCards (at the top, under Home)>>Photo eCards>>All your images uploaded to this site for the creation of cards!

Deleting from this second storage space will also delete them definitively - the images, not the finished cards - from the Create card section. This surprising discovery turned out to be much more convenient, at least for me. A few moments of waiting for the one long page to load leads to a greatly accelerated and handy process thereafter.

The pleasures of omission!...

It is perfectly OK to delete the images once you have created the card. The image file has already been accessed and used and is no longer required. I actually delete the used images as I make my cards i.e. make a card, go to Create a Card, delete the image just used, create the next card, etc. Works a treat, no long image deletion work and no getting confused about which images have been used.

If you don't trust anything, make copies on a disc if you have tons of cards made. That way, no matter if you have them on your computer or loaded to GCU, you'll always have a back-up copy . It's what I do from time to time .

The images in your image library are not the same images that we use when we create your card. A new image is created once you create a card.

So you can go ahead and delete images after you've uploaded them and used them to create a card.
