Forum notification settings
Jul 24th, 2009, 10:22am

Hello -

Some time ago I turned off whatever setting it is that sends me an email when there is a message posted on the Forum - I was getting overwhelmed.

But now I feel as though I'm missing things, and wonder if it's possible to receive emails from just a couple of the Forum areas (GCU Announcements and GCU Support).  I clicked on "Notification" above the Forum, and saw a list of topics that seemed pretty random with unchecked boxes next to them, and an option to "remove" the topics. But nothing about adding a section of the Forum.

If it's possible to receive emails when there are postings to these Forum areas, how do I set it up?

Thanks!!

I did the same thing.  I would suggest, rather than turning the emails on and getting overwhelmed again I would just come back and poke around when I had some free time.

I check everything undecided kiss Wink. Why? Cuss there might be something in all those post I might be missing out on Wink. If your looking for something in the posts, click the boxes your interested in Wink. Me? Most anything. Yup. At times my e-mail box gets loaded. Still. When I feel like going though them all, I'll set a time to look over them. Some I delete as it's only chatter. some I save and it's rare that I do, cuss the topic seemed important at the time. Your choices, your views  Wink.

Thanks for your reply, Patricia. But my problem is, I don't know where to set it up to receive those emails. How/where did you find the boxes that you checked?
Thanks

Hi Gail, when you click on one of the forum sections (GCU News & Announcements, Image Guidelines & Tips, etc.) there will be a link near the top right called "Notify of replies".  If you click this you'll be able to set it so that you'll be notified when there's a new topic, or anytime there's a new post.

What Shaun just said Wink. I'm no computer techie kiss Wink. They keep upgrading stuff around here so I've been real lame and not done much lately. I too had a problem for a few months of not getting any Forum e-mails and I thought it was all due to they're upgrading so I didn't bother doing anything for a while Roll Eyes Wink kiss. For about a week of so they've been getting the forum e-mails back up as I now get lots of them again Wink Cheesy Grin kiss. I used to see a box to click on the left side of each forum title and I'd click on all of them, you can just click on the ones you want to get delivered to your web site, mine is AOL, others can be anything like Facebook, or some other places I don't know about Shocked Huh Wink Cheesy Smiley Grin. If you can't see the check boxes then I don't know. I hope that helps a tad, if not, I'm sorry I couldn't help ya. Hope you have yours fixed soon to your liking Wink Smiley.
