Well, I am always happy and appreciative of any sale but there are a lot more 'duck eggs' in my sales column than I have seen for a few months. Remember that saying 'when life gives you lemons make lemonade', well....Scrambled eggs anyone? Sounds like there's lots to go around!  Roll Eyes Grin Grin Grin Grin

Here's to a sales BOOM in August!

Great Pam!  Congrats!

I have had a string of 1-2 cards sold/day for over a week but my one sale today so far was for 15, so perhaps I shouldn't be so grumpy.   Cheesy

It's been really really slow for me here.  It's even slowed down on other sites as well.  I guess people do not buy cards or artwork or tees or magnets when the economy is bad.  Esp. when they are all out of work like so many are.

Truth be told - the economy is picking up.  I do real estate photography and nothing was moving - a couple months ago houses 150 and under were being snapped up left and right, a month ago it jumped to 250K and now it's in the 300's - so things are picking up.  I saw a report where we are through the worst and by the end of the year house prices should start increasing.

I've even had cancellations because the houses sold before I could shoot them.  People need to stop listening to all the gloom and doom of the news and start living =).  Just my two cents for what it's worth.

Congrats to you all on your sales.  I've made 0 sales this month  cry  But I understand how hard it is for all the people without jobs and they aren't even thinking of buying cards just thankful they have chickens laying eggs so they have something to eat.  At least that's how it is around here.

Okay....make that four!  After leaving that post I must have broken the spell...I just sold a Valentine's card in July! Grin
I just read somewhere where an artist had sold a Halloween card this month! Oh well, I certainly don't mind!  I wonder if they changed the inside text as the front didn't say Happy Valentine's on it?
I wish there was a way to know if people customized the card...I'd be interested to know that.

JULY is over.

My sales were off 33% vs. June but up 250% (3.5x) from a year ago.

Clicks/sale was 54 in July vs. 44 in June.  My long-term average (since Feb 2008) is 36, and rising  Tongue.

Ave commission per card was 55 cents, up from 53 in June.

How'd you all do?  Just adjust the dates on the store report to get your sums for particular months or time periods.

Our sales might be as good of a measure of the economy's health as anything else out there.

Thanks for the report Tom, I find your stats very helpful so here's how mine measured up.

After a very quiet start things turned around for the last four days and I saw some sales, even had three in one day! Smiley

Here's my statistics for July, since you set it up so nicely for us to report.
July sales were down 40% vs June, don't have a last year stat Smiley
Clicks/sale shows as 39 vs 29 for June.
Total store visits 87 July vs 89 June.

Don't know if this is helpful to you or others, but it is fun, I may get to like statistics after all. Smiley

I'm pleased to announce that I sold four today, and had another sale this past week, and yes, that is pretty good for me.  So I am pleased.  Cheesy Grin

But I am somewhat confused about the commission. embarrassed  I made .86 for four cards, and I am thinking maybe another artist bought them?  Roll Eyes It was together with a huge order of 300 cards.....not all mine, only four Smiley Smiley Smiley Smiley.

Anyone know? Shocked

Thanks for any input..

Hi Trish,
The commission we earn per card is based on the price of each card in a total order. When your cards are part of a bulk sale then you earn less commission per card because the price per card paid is less when purchased in larger quantities.
It is a......let's say, not infrequent and controversial topic on the forum Smiley
GCU is trying to encourage bulk ordering.
Hope that helps.
Pamela

Contrats Trish!  I'm so happy for you!

Pam is right, as usual Wink, but here are the specifics:

In the qty 100 – 499 range, cards sell for $1.79 each and artists make 12%/card = $0.2148/each, so x4 = $0.8592, thus 86-cents is your commission.

The commission schedule is here:

=====================
PAM - interesting that you are seeing the same weak trend for July vs. June.

Thanks for sharing!
