Slow sales?
Jul 16th, 2009, 9:11am

Now my cards are not normally flying off the shelves by any means but I was starting to get a steady trickle Smiley ....until July. Anyone else noticing far fewer sales?
I am not good at figuring stats for GCU, does anyone know if sales are slow overall for July and
if last July showed a dip in sales, perhaps because of holidays, etc.

Haha Yes  Shocked as you can tell from my cards, I am a bit wacky and zany and over colourfull, so this one came as a shock *grin* http://www.greetingcarduniverse.com/shopping/zoom.asp?pid=379878&w=1

It's just not me, not even sure where I was comming from when I did that.

Moonie, It's an inspired card!  Very colorful, exquisitely designed and emotional, and I can see why it sold very well!

Moonie, isn't that a 'famous' piece of art?  Seems I remember seeing it frequently as a child either on my Mom's wall or in churches...just curious  Smiley  Nice card!

I was also starting to see a steady trickle, but since the end of June, I've only sold 1 card (except for ones purchased by myself/friends). Pamela, it would be nice to know how this July compares to last year. I presume sales are usually off this time of year... I certainly hope that's the case and that things pick up soon!

Hi Everyone,
So it does seem that some others here are seeing a slow month. Sad

I haven't been here long enough to have a last year to compare with, but I am guessing things probably pick-up again in September when school is back and most vacations over. Hopefully Tom will have some numbers to share when he gets back from vacation.

Also, Congrats to you Moonie on your successful Easter card, may it continue.

Thanks all,
Pamela

Yes, I'm back - just in time for Pam to give me something to do!!   Wink

And yes, July so far has been el-stinko for me too.  My sales are off 45% compared to June 1-16th, 2009.  Tongue

As for GCU, here is what I have crunched for this year vs. last year:

Feb09      up 141%
Mar09      up 102%
Apr09      up 154%
May09     up 102%
Jun09      up   77%  (actually is mid-June to mid-July)

So this does indicate June/July sales this year have slowed relative to recent previous months, but are still up smartly over last year (+77%).

The June/July daily cards sold is still up nearly 50% since the beginiing of the year, and June/July almost beat the all-time-high monthly cards sold record set in April 2009.  This 50% growth sounds great, but the number of cards at GCU is up over 70% since the beginiing of the year too.   Tongue

Another observation I have is that the number of cards per order is up about 16% this year over last year, which is nice, and is likely due to a somewhat improved shopping experience (just a guess), or perhaps it's due to the 5-card free shipping promo.  Hard to really say.

Like Pamela, my cards aren't flying off the shelves either!  I didn't do too badly in June, but this month so far have only sold two cards....though have had lots of clicks....I guess people are just looking in the store window!   Smiley
I think it's the time of year, everyone on vacation and the major holidays over for a bit.

I am sure I remember this too. It was an illustration in my Dad's bible. I will see if I can get the bible this weekend and check. Maybe it was just similar.

"Christ in the Garden of Gethsemane," which has been interpreted by many artists is probably what this card is reminding you of.  A well known version is by Heinrich Hofmann, a German artist.  This concept of Christ kneeling at the rock is used in bibles, and everything from needlepoint kits to air-fresheners.

Moonie, is your real name Cindy?  I see that name on the card.  Just curious...
