You can also search for images using Tin eye. http://tineye.com/.
This  will search for your images even if your name is not present. I search for my most popular images regularly. It is surprising where they are used!
It has a neat little plugin that lets you right click an image and just search really fast.

Huge thanks to everyone for all the priceless information, tips, fruitful discussion, and collegial sharing/protective attitude evident above - in addition to sympathy for anyone whose work is being/has been unjustly exploited. We must stay vigilant and continue to protest where appropriate.

Tineye is easy to use and will surprise you with it's accuracy. Their database is quite small but growing rapidly. I've used it for awhile and I have learned some interesting things.

Good job, Corrie on busting that thief!
How did you find that?  Makes ya wonder where else your stuff is being stolen, or any of our stuff from GCU.

Some people have no class.

I see the thief also whined about you, Corrie, on her blog...that you wanted your stuff off her site.
She's got some nerve, eh  Angry

I think she really had no idea that what she was doing was wrong.  The scrap-booking community tends to borrow freely, many have no idea that this is wrong.

Go to almost any of the scrapbook sites and you will find many "borrowed" pieces.

Perhaps there is some way to educate those in the entire community.

Yes, Jeff's right... many people (and not just those in the scrapbooking community) believe that if an image is on the Internet, it's "free" to use as they wish. This particular woman wasn't being malicious, she really just had no clue. I explained it to her in the email I sent.

Corrie I have been corresponding with her too, she had taken a lot of my stuff too, and it really seems, through her mails, that she is ignorant about rules and regulations to what she can and can't do on the internet.
She is polite and kind enough in her mails, so I am wondering hard if I shouldn't just let her off this one time with the scare and keep an eye on her, and if she does it again I won't hesitate on reporting her immediately.

Well I just had a look at her site, and saw her apology....however, in the following link from a March 16th post she made, she admits she knows she has to get permission to use others work!
http://mysimplethoughtsncreations.blogspot.com/search/label/Blog%20Aides

I had a look for any familiar work, but am not sure where I'm supposed to be looking, is it in the Slide show? Or is it bits and pieces all over the map!?
Saw your messages Karen, I think she'll get the message!

Okay...it seems no one read my post two pages back...but according to her blog in March, she appears to know she must ask permission before using another person's work?  Or am I reading this wrong?

Avis, I have too seen her post, that she should ask permission, but when it was posted I can't remember.
But though she had written it there it still wasn't legal for her to offer free downloads of stolen art, because she never bothered to ask any for permission, I surely have never seen any mails in my in-box of that sort.

Hi Inge,
Well that's what I'm saying....how innocent can she be, really?  I think she knows full well that permission is to be asked, but her attitude is 'oh well, it won't matter'....?

Avis, I have to agree with you. I don't think she meant to cause problems, but, like a lot of people she didn't worry about it, either. As long as no one said anything, it didn't matter to her. And, she has had a bit of a "hurt" attitude about the whole thing, as though she is being lambasted by all the nasty, money-grubbing artists who aren't willing to "share" when that's what art is all about, sharing. Yeah, uhuh.  Roll Eyes I don't mind sharing some things when asked, but I do mind someone taking without asking. And, although she does say that she gave credit, she didn't give credit on her product. Also, if she is giving someone else's work away, then people who downloaded her stuff would think they could do the same, and/or, sell it themselves. Since she has been doing it for awhile, I would be very surprised if that isn't the case. I didn't find anything of mine on her site, but then, who wants scantily clad girls/guys on their scrapbooking stuff?

Hi Kathy!
I'm sorry if I sound cynical, but I tend to think that she's more sorry about getting caught, than about stealing others creations!
I totally agree with you too about the 'hurt' attitude....it just doesn't feel very authentic to me, (but I get lied to a lot in my line of work!LOL!) Wink

I didn't see any of my stuff there, but as I said earlier, I'm not sure where to look, in the Slide show, or is it spread all over the blog...not sure whether to join in and send her an email just in case!?  I laughed btw about your comment about the scantily clad girls and guys bit....too funny! You're safe I'm sure! Grin

Before we do that lets make sure that is a smart move on our part. There could potentially be hundreds/thousands of bloggers like her out there, so lets think how this should be handled from a big picture perspective . Would a smarter move be to require her to display our Card Seller Widget? Would we rather have hundreds of bloggers showcasing the card widget or is it more important for them to not use your graphics?
Shocked
I can't believe that this is the blaze attitude first taken by GCU! Obviously Corrie, Inge and others whose art had been blatantly stolen felt otherwise.  Many of us who have art on GCU have art in many other places - for SALE.  If these artists had taken this suggested stand that it's fine to rip off GCU artists as long as there is a GCU widget on your site, I sure would be questioning just how interested GCU is in protecting  the artwork of it's biggest profit makers.  I feel that attitude is as insensitive as the one taken by the "rip off"  blogger.

Well just checked the blog of the woman in question and you'll be happy to hear she's giving up her little 'hobby', and "feels it's time to move on"....I'm wondering if it's because her font of creative works just dried up?
Read here... http://mysimplethoughtsncreations.blogspot.com/

She's likely going to set up a new blog somewhere and keep doing what she's doing...that's my guess!
