Us as creative artist we need to have the guarantee and support from  the place displaying our designs that  copyright  rights  are protected. At its best.

I don’t think I read  in any of GCU polices  that this site can be use as clip art feeder for  bloggers nor scrap bookers or anyone how may feel like “borrowing images” .  This person’s action is absolutely a copyright infringement and  should be treated and addressed as such.

I have send several “scary” email regarding copyright infringement in  several business with my artwork done  from the popular auction sites to French sites.

I don’t have problem  when  people  politely ask if they can display my art but when they tried to excuse  themselves by claiming “ non-malicious intent on copyright infringement” I can’t tell you how many times I have heard that phrase before…. ( It makes me think it might be in  some manual for ”Stealing artist design  and excuses and phrases you can  tell when you get caught”

This is absolutely  unacceptable to allow this type of  art stealing  just  to wait for some sales.  All of  us- Artist we  are gifted with creativity and we  have to constantly battle thru the past years  the  right to be respected as creative developers.  New  times  flourish now to artist and creative people and laws that protect us to this type of abuse.; if the company that supposed to protect your art doesn’t follow  thru you can contact offices directly to deal with the legal case.

I apologize to be passionate about this  topic… I had learned the hard way  thought-out  the years; experience has tough me  as an Artist you have the right and will stand in a legal battle… doesn’t matter if it’s claimed  unintended, unintentional or a home maker mom. Using your designs  for her candy wrapping business.  Copyright infringement is copyright infringement and should be treated as that.

What I'm trying to figure out is how she got the images, I thought GCU had a security measure to protect against that. What a rude thing to do!

This is a question for the GCU Tech folks. I noticed at Corries Zazzle and GCU sites and my own too that the images are can easily dragged on to my mac - I suppose on to a PC too. (Corrie I will delete them - I was checking to see how easy it was for people to grab our stuff.) Is there a way our images could be locked and not able to be dragged off to be used in other peoples projects.  I know I have been to clip art sites where the images are locked or have a watermark across the image that is removed when you pay for their service.

I also wonder since people are looking for scrap booking images that perhaps it is something we could make available to them in a legitimate way through GCU. Maybe there is a need that we can meet somehow.

I commented  about the subject before. GCU doesn’t lowers image resolution when displaying thumbnail images. They can easily be  restore to a fairly  printing quality.

We upload images at a higher resolution an GCU  for some reason keeps the   display images at a higher resolution for customer to see . Even is the images is 1” X 1”  it can be digital  restore if its kept at a higher resolution.

If your images don't have the GCU copyright watermark when displayed.. well… runs the risk to end in a  freebie  scrapbooking goodies.

Corrie,  you have several legal cases in your favor. Contact me personally and will let you know.

I wrote 2 posts to this thread and only the second one is posted. There is work by artists at greetingcarduniverse posted on polyvore.com. I posted the url on my second post. Polyvore also had a lot of photos from pbase members posted and the pbase admin had polyvore remove them. I had photos taken from thelensflare and I had polyvore remove them.

Regarding card widget, I don't know what that is or how to make one or install one. Mary

Unfortunately I haven't been active for quite some time now, because of our moving house, but thanks to Kathy I have become aware of this thread, and thank you Corrie for have your eyes open and report this.

Sadly did I find a lot of my art there and that it has been manipulated with too, not to my liking at all.
Noone can say they don't know the rules on the web, the web is so old now and everyone knows how to behave and what to do and not, at least they should, in my eyes, there really isn't any excuse for this behavior and thieft, it's stealing money from me and all others she has stolen from.

I am not sitting back and let it pass, I am very mad, and tomorrow, it's very late here now, I will be reporting her for the thieft of my stuff, and I will be doing it through here http://www.google.com/blogger_dmca.html others can do so if they want.

Thanks once again

I'm new here and new to the greeting card thing all together but one thing I certainly agree with is having some control over where my images go... if this person is stealing images here and using them to 'sell' her new products - free or not - I am all for supporting a cease and desist order.  She's not benefiting any of us by taking our work freely and using it to her liking and setting a wrong example for everyone else when we are here trying to sell our products that they can take freely and use.

One thing I suggest to the creators of this site - can there be a watermark put onto our images in preview and have non-watermarked images printed onto the actual paper cards - thereby perhaps reducing the desire to steal images?  It might help keep people from freely taking images from here... I have all my images on Deviantart.com watermarked and I don't allow downloads.

I certainly plan to copyright my images as soon as some funds free up...

We have two seperate things going on here.

1. The Blogger- cease and desist, remove images- even though she has posted credit to some she is giving away items as free without credit on the give aways.  Maybe not malicous but stupid. She needs to learn the correct way to ask. I rarely believe someone when they say "I didn't know".

2. Polyvore- I don't mind. Everywhere an image is posted it is credited to GCU and hot linked bringing potential customers to the site which may result in sales.

Dear Nassar,

My vote is to have her cease and desist - TOTALLY!  The sales generated from her site would be small to nil (people looking for freebies aren't out to buy), and the infringement is unacceptable.  She may be doing this innocently, but it is wrong.

My images are watermarked, so they are probably not being used, but I would be upset if they were.   Angry

Regards,

Carol

Hi
Thanks Corrie for letting us know about this. Whilst I didn`t find any of my images in use I still do not like what she was doing. I tried to email her but it kept bouncing back, so I decided to leave a message on her blog. Sadly it wouldn`t take a long message to get my point across so I had to leave several!
However I just went back to take another look and she has removed all the previous images and apologised saying she didn`t intend to steal images... lets hope that`s the end of her illegally using other people`s work!
Karen

Well I just had a look at her site, and saw her apology....however, in the following link from a March 16th post she made, she admits she knows she has to get permission to use others work!
http://mysimplethoughtsncreations.blogspot.com/search/label/Blog%20Aides

I had a look for any familiar work, but am not sure where I'm supposed to be looking, is it in the Slide show? Or is it bits and pieces all over the map!?
Saw your messages Karen, I think she'll get the message!

I agree with the people who have made it clear that they do not want their art used without permission.  I feel the same way, even though I have not seen any of my images on their sites. Angry
