Re. the artist's discounts, free shipping etc.

Hi all,
Okay...I'm a bit confused about the discounts we can apply.  I have never ordered my cards to be sent to me, but just have....and I applied my artist discount of $1.89, and then as I ordered 5 cards applied the free shipping and handling, saving me...I thought $3.50....plus I tried to apply the GradsDads discount too as I ordered two Graduation cards for a person I work with who asked me to customize them.
I only got the Artist discount of $4.50, and though it said I got free shipping/handling discount applied...on the totals it added in the shipping/handling costs? Huh
Is this because I'm in Canada and the free shipping doesn't apply?
Nothing seen about the GradsDads discount...I'm assuming you can't use them all?

Can anyone explain this to me?
Thanks a lot Smiley
Edit:  Actually in looking again I see that it says  "Free Shipping for 5 or more cards(Promo Code DadsGrads2009)  ....and it says 0.00......this is under Used Coupons.  So did I enter it incorrectly? Did they cancel each other out?

Hmm ...

I just created a 5 card order as a test, and it let me apply the Artist Discount, the dadsgrad2009 discount, and the new fathers20 discount.

The dadsgrads2009 one should be 20% off but it shows in checkout as a free S/H discount, and is at a different value than the new fathers20 discount.  Both are advertised as a 20% discount.  A goof!

There is a small note showing "Not all promotions can be combined," which might not be checked until deeper into the checkout process, perhaps that's not a good process either if true.  It seems odd that I could apply all 3 discounts.

That said, there does need to be a better explaination for shoppers, somewhere, of the aspects of combining discounts and if it applies to international.  I could not find such an explanation anywhere in the process.

This doesn't answer your question totally Avis, but it provides a bit more info.

Yes, the GCU Support Forum area is meant for things that require their specific attention.  It might take till next week however.

Hi All,

I believe I know what happened here.  This was actually a mistake on my end.  The 20% off code that you are referring to: DADSGRADS2009 which was on GCU homepage in early may and has expired.

After this promo had expired we had mistakenly created a second promo under the same name which was a free shipping promo.   Sorry for the confusion.

There was also another 20% promo on the homepage towards the end of May which was DADSGRADS20.

Tom, we'll make a note to add a clearer explanation for shoppers.

Shaun

Hi Shaun,
Thanks for this reply....I emailed Mindy as I hadn't heard anything...and still haven't!

However, I am still a bit confused about my order #120083 as I am still being charged for shipping and handling even though ordered 5 cards?

Could you please explain if this order has all the appropriate discounts applied?
Thanks a lot,
Avis

Hello Avis the free shipping promo only applies to orders being mailed to destinations within the United States.  There's a note about this when you add this promo on the checkout page, however it's not very clear.  I'll bring this to the attention of our programmers.

Would it make sense, and be more fair, to apply that equivalent savings to sales outside the USA?
