Because I use a MAC and things might work differently, I decided to try this on Barbara's site. There was no problem copying her card to my desktop (trashed it right away, of course). It copied perfectly in spite of the drop-down message that the copy function was disabled. After I clicked "OK" on the message box, my menu for copying appeared. Yes, this is a problem! Carol

I use both platforms PC & mac and there is always a way around to download images. GCU new improve larger images its great but some images I founds here in GCU are 72 resolution with an amazing
image size 9 X 6 its pretty good quality for "sharing" this images. Shocked

Other GCU Images are:
300 resolution size: 1.68 X1.2 ( Images don't ' need to be this high on resolution for web display ; this higher resolution makes them even a "juicer target "even for small image, If I resample even this tiny image to 72 resolution will give me a wonderful 7X5 picture to print and "share with friends" that simple!

I think this is serious, display images should be smaller resolution and until then... I am using the watermark over them. Wink

Hi Mindy,
Had posted the below yesterday, please fix this. I never use watermarks and do not like the fact that all cards (not only mine) can be downloaded without any problem. Thanks!

The right click disablement can be a deterrent but certainly not for all image thieves. In any case we will be correcting the browser specific error reported.

Right click disablement and watermarking are decent defenses against unauthorized image theft. However please note we do believe that the watermark (any watermark) can be somewhat offensive to shoppers and may deter sales. With the new image sizes, image by credits removal and bi-level watermarking that we are currently implement a NEW watermark is being introduced. We believe the new watermark will lessen any shopper confusion as it literally says "image copyright protection - will not appear on printed card".

The confusion stems from the fact that greeting card shoppers are not used to the idea/concept of a watermark. So no matter how intrusive or non intrusive a watermark is many shoppers just don't understand it.

As Tom well indicated on the other thread, we can create deterrents but the bottom line is if someone is serious about stealing your image they will find a way. If not online they can order a high quality printed card for $2.79 and scan it.

With all taken into account it is a trade off and a decision each artist needs to make.
