I thought that this thread was about the new menu, not about individual stores.

(Jeff, I don't think that by calling programmers "fool" you're going to get what you want.)

Ah, you have a point Jeff, in regard to your store. I was concentrating on the home pages of categories and had not thought about our stores.  Yes that would be a lot for you. A box maybe your only answer then. Smiley I would still be OK with page numbers since I don't have that many cards. Smiley

And I second your 'reset to the beginning frustration' wholeheartedly. Sad

OK trying to remain constructive. Smiley
Even with the 'new page style' there is the helpful overview of the categories that remains down the left hand side of the page.
Perhaps this could be highlighted and renamed as a feature 'Quick overview of card categories' or ' Quick selection Guide' something like that, so the customer has the option to choose their manner of browsing.

Doesn't solve the 'lost cards' in the ALL categories but may help with the labyrinth issue.

Joan,

I stand corrected, I wasn't trying to hijack the thread.

As for calling programmers fools, I was actually saying the person that made the decision to set that up...programmer/designer/reviewer, did not think it all the way through.

AND, whoever set up a page jump that goes to the wrong page because they forgot a basic fundamental that all baby programmers should know.....well, they are foolish or untrained or lazy or pay no attention to details.

I have a long history as a programmer and I am horrified at the current programmers in this country that can't program and can only fill check boxes in, they like to say it can't be done. They are everywhere and are creating a mess. In my day we had to walk 10 miles to the computer, in the snow, in bare feet, ....uphill, .....both ways.

Well Tom,

I can't seem to beg, borrow or steal a store visit or a sale.  Each day has gotten a little worse until today being a total wasteland.

I don't know what it is but I wish it would go away.

On this Magic Monday, the most powerful GCU shopping day of the week, mid-day, 1 visit and no sales.

I've stopped making new cards.  Hard to get excited at this point.  I'm going to go work on other things for a while.

Tom and Jeff,
Your experiences are speaking volumes!  cry
Especially you Tom, with a long a solid history upon which to base these observations. What other possible explanation can there be?
I do hope that GCU will strongly consider all that has been reported in this thread and rethink these latest changes. I also hope they share their observations of the effects of this change and let us know the direction they are considering going in from here.

It is rather a blue Monday isn't it? Sad

I don't know if this has anything to do with the new menus.

But, I'd be happy to have it over with.  Smiley

Jeff,
You are right I am making assumptions, there could be a multitude of reasons.

Hi all,
Just a quick note to say that a couple of days ago I sold a card I made right at the beginning of my time on GCU, and had almost forgotten about!  Maybe it rose to the surface with the new changes?
I sold a card today (one of a bigger order of 16, so someone's selling!), and also three days ago which is my usual....one or two sales 1-3 days apart....so I can't complain.  I don't have a lot of cards like you guys, so not much has changed for me....but I found it interesting that the older card came up....not sure if it's a coincidence or not? Smiley

Which page exactly are you talking about?  In you admin pages or your storefront?

Hi Mindy,
Hope you all had a good Memorial Day. Smiley

The reset to the beginning that I am talking about (and that I assumed Jeff was referencing, but hopefully he will chime in here) is in the 'arrange gallery' section of our stores (admin pages). It seems every time I drag a card and relocate it I end up back at the top of the page again. It would be great if it would take you back to where you made the change.
Anything you can do to help would be Soooo... appreciated.!
Thanks,
Pamela

I agree with Tom, Corrie and all, but please consider Pamela's suggestion to put all page numbers on. I'm a page jumper and the sites I enjoy [ translates into those I visit most often ] have all their pages listed.  I guess I'm not a single minded shopper, especially on the web.  If there is an artist that I like,  maybe looking for a certain something when I first visit, I like to go back later and just randomly click pg. numbers, curiosity, to see what else they have.  That's the fun of the web. Otherwise couch potato window shopping.  Which brings up another thread of Jeffs and many others.  Find a way, pop-ups, menues, anything to do away with those endless multiples in the stores.  I visited a store of one of the artist I really admired when I started with GCU.  They have gone the multiple route, I know thats for sales, but I was so put off I left the site.  Not only that I went back to my store and eliminated the multiples, I'm not going to put any visiters, [company ] through that.  And I know the reasoning, this is business, but listen to Jeff, there has to be a better way.      Norval
