New Idea for Artist Visibility

One of the problems that many artists are experiencing is getting seen, with 150,000 cards, many of them very beautiful, how does one artist stand out? How can they show off a card they think should be seen?

If we had a section that highlighted favorite cards of each artist AND only showed 24 cards at a time AND artists submitted different cards each week AND MAYBE the artist gives a little blurb about why they selected it.

I'm not talking about a jury selection, I'm thinking all cards submitted for the week are randomly selected from for each new visit. Without lots of pages to look at the customer can slow down a second and appreciate.

By limiting the cards to one week there will be a greater turnover and a reason for customers to come back to look. We could even highlight that it changes on a specific day. ("every Friday there will be a new selection of Artist choices, see what the artists put up next week")

By allowing the artist to talk about the card there is a chance to communicate personally with buyers about a card that requires a little more of a look.

Lots there, and lots more in my mind for fleshing this out.
Anyone interested?

I think we have enough artists that would participate in this so that there would be plenty of images for sure. We could even have it so that we could submit 7 picks for the week...or something like that. Itaya

Another great idea born out of the creative minds of artists. In addition to Jeff's idea, not instead, I'd like to offer my blog Greeting Card Universe & Me at http://greeting-card-universe-me.blogspot.com/. I'll be posting an open thread every Sunday where you can post the name and URL of your favorite GCU shop and a review. I'll be posting different themes as I think of them: favorite traditional media artist, fav photographer, fav cartoonist, etc. Contact me if you have any ideas for a theme. This week's theme is Your Favorite New Artist. New = GCU artist for 6 months or less.

I've seen increasing exposure for this blog. As of this date, according to GCU's traffic analytics, since January my blog has referred 128 people to GCU. Not a huge number, but I hope to see that number grow.

I'll be soon adding a new feature: The story behind the image. Artists can post a link to an image and tell the story behind it: the birth of the idea, the method of making it, etc.

A big thumbs up. I would like to see more sites and technical sites from GCU'er's that have the know how to do this stuff.

My biggest problem is figuring out how to get noticed. I have about 60cards now and I bet over half of them have 0clicks. i know i am knew and still learning the profiling, category thing but this would be awesome. Louise
