Testimonials
Feb 7th, 2009, 2:54am

OK, I took the advice of another Artists and started providing testimonials to others.  Right now when one types one in, and hits "SUBMIT," all that happens is a "Thank you" message comes up.  One suggestion is to expand this to "Thank you.  The Artist has been sent your Testimonial and if they approve it, it will be shown on their store front shortly thereafter.  Thanks again for shopping at GCU."

I think without this note, most people expect their testimonial submission to appear instantly, and when it doesn't, they might wonder if it got lost or something.

Another suggestion.  I would like to be able to link back to the person who placed the testimonial after I have approved it and it is on my shop.  Their name, signature or comment should be a link to their store.  This would greatly increase reciprocation and intermingling on GCU.

You can link back. You just use the regular html tags you would do to create a link, (if I remember right). Include it in your writing. The bad thing is that it comes out too large in relation to the rest of the text and looks out of place. And, unfortunately,  I don't think the storeowner can tell there is a link there in the approval view, only once it is showing as a testimonial. They could easily take it down though.

Thanks for that Catinka!

Great for those who know html tags and stuff.

Really the comments should have built in links as they do on other P.O.D. sites as many people don't know how to use html.  (guilty) lol

<a href="http://www.greetingcarduniverse.com/catinkascardstore">the words you want clickable, ie. your store name, website, whatever</a>
<a href=""></a> these are the tags. The opening tag (first one) gets the url between the quotes. The closing tag (second one) tells the browser this is the end of the link. This may show up differently than I've typed it. Tags don't work in every place you enter text into. They can be disabled. I think when we write here in the forum one only needs to add the url or a www. address to have it clickable. Like this:http://www.greetingcarduniverse.com/catinkascardstore or www.catinkacards.com
Not so in the testimonials.

Ruth, wonderful idea.  Will the real Cherie stand up please Grin.  I'm getting gun shy on sending thank you's.  I have sent them to the wrong persons twice this week.

You did it right Ruth! And yes, one does see the link in the 'approval view' as a link. I was able to click it and visit your store. Lovely Valentines. I also like the fireworks idea for several kinds of celebrations. But, there was no way for me to leave a testimonial. My old Safari browser has troubles with some things so perhaps that was why it was missing. Anyway, good work!

We have recently updated the return message when a testimonial has been left to the following per your suggestion:

"Your Testimonial has been sent to the artist for review and will appear on their storefront if approved. Thank You."
