I just received a few cards with the FSC logo on them, so I thought I'd share a view.  You can see the info in the upper right and lower left that Nasser mentioned earlier:
 

 
I do like the "other" FSC logo (shown on my earlier post) that has the recycle symbol on it, as most people do recognize that symbol.  Any chance that one can be used as I think we use some percentage of recycled paper in our cards, right?

I like Denise's design better, but with the addition of the url of the artist's store. We may not be able to do much about the FSC logo, if that's under the printer's control, but we can do something about how we present ourselves and, in my opinion, the more professional, the better. When my students go before the judges at the science fair, they can't wear jeans and a T-Shirt. They can't even wear pressed jeans and a tucked-in T-Shirt. They have to present themselves professionally if they want to truly impress the judges. That's my opinion, for what it's worth. Smiley

not to argue with Nasser but only as a point of reference here is my design thought moved up to the middle of the card.  simply for comparisons.  and thank you for your comments kathy.

I like Denise's design, too, especially this new one with the items more centered... it looks classy and that, I think, is very important.  Good work, Denise...

So here are two versions taking into considering the "reserved" printer areas in the left corners.
 
Modifications:
1.  Reduced the Logo to 60% of the original size
2.  Placed the copyright and company contact block to the lower left corner
3.  Placed the card reference number in the upper left to expedite reorders
4.  Placed the FSC label in the lower center
 
Artist Credits:
1.  ADVANCED - Same info as today but an optional Bio Line added; use GCU font and colors
2.  BASIC - Artist/store Name and URL; optional Bio line
3.  NONE
 
Soapbox:
A.  I like the color on the back.  B&W looks cheap to me.  The higher quality cards out there have color.
B.  I think the copyright and company info is needed as all commercial cards have this info.
C.  I think the Card # would allow easy reordering as finding this card on GCU is near impossible without it.
D.  I'd like to see a more streamlined FSC logo implementation.  The options are spelled out HERE.
 
 
Artist Credits - Clearly some Artists want their photo and name, others want a logo and store/company name, others want no photo and just text, and still others may want nothing at all.  There was also the idea to have a Bio line.  Based on this I've shown a few versions.  Perhaps GCU, in time, can program these various options for us to chose from.  For consistancy, I'd like to see photo/logo guidelines published for use in this credits area, and have required approval to maintain a professional look for our cards.

I like Denise's simple, in the middle design but I must admit I would miss the color on the logo and since the printer has to put things on the right side top and bottom we would lose some of the 'balance in the design. Therefore I like the way Tom's seems weighted at the bottom of the card yet your eye is drawn to the center of the card where the important info is, and the printers info is less obvious. I don't like info in all four corners but that is what GCU has to work with it seems and Toms does balance out in my mind.
As far as photo/logo of artist, in some cases it would be a plus, I like the  in others maybe not!

thank you to those who have commented.   i am not as opposed to the color gcu logo as i am to it being too large and the combination of the color logo which is already 2 colors in varying tones plus a  different color for the url, a different color for the fsc, different tones on the artist info, black on the printer info, color photo of artist ...well it is just too much.  i am not going to put another back image on, just imagine the gcu logo in color if you want.  i am not happy with all the info on the back plus all the many colors.  its too busy and takes away from the professional feel of the cards.  i just have to decide if it is how i want my cards represented, especially those more sensitive areas such as bridal, and sympathy.

Again, I like Denise's design, best. I don't think the bio and picture look professional. If the person looking at the card wants to know more about me and my store, they will visit via the url.  
Also, the busier the back gets, the more it takes away from the real part of the card, the front and inside. This is especially true for cards such as wedding invitations, thank-yous, and bereavement cards.

I'll throw my vote in for a simpler design along the lines of what Denise submitted.  The current back is so cluttered and the colors clash.  And no offense intended, but I really think the artist's pictures on the backs looks very amateurish and the other information just seems over the top.
 
A small logo to represent the stores seem more professional.  I'd be one very unhappy buyer if I ordered cards, especially a bulk order of invitations, a bereavement or anything for that matter, and it had someone's mug on the back of it.  Let's face it, as important as we think we are, the buyer really doesn't care who we are or what we look like.   Smiley  
 
I think a logo and maybe something like "This card was designed for you by Tom Rent of Comical Captions"  might be more professional.

I'm voting for all of it smaller and in the middle like Jan/Gracey/Denise variety.  I like a little color but not a different for each line. I don't need my logo stuck way out there in the corner as long as my identity is apparent and findable at a glance not just GCU(so, no...I don't want size 4 pale grey font either). I'll certainly take second billing in a more discreet manner. And the "green" thing is a good thing but that is one nasty BIG dinosaur that many people will not identify with at this point nor go check out online.
 
As it stands, it looks like a billboard for someone not sure who they want to support.

I'm not sure this is always true.  Buyers are drawn to certain Artists and they do want a connection in many cases, much like readers are to books that include an author's photo and bio.  Having a good "mug" photo is one great way to satisfy GCU's mission of "Connecting Artists & Card Buyers."  It's all part of developing a Brand and establishing a following, for individual Artists and for GCU.
 
Yes, many Artists don't have a professional logo and many too don't want to show their faces.  Some don't even want to share their name.  GCU already accommodates all of these in the Artist Credit options.
 
I can only think of 2 viable solutions for the Artist Credits for Wedding Invite type cards and such.  One is to default to use of a subtle Artist Credit without photo or logo for certain categories, and another is to just have a more subtle Artist Credits design altogether.  Option 1 might still draw complaints from artists and buyers who want the logo/photo on all of their cards, plus it requires programming, while Option 2 could be more straightforward and could be done to not seem so much like an "ad."
 
Here is a version with a scaled down Artists Credits area and a size-reduced FSC logo.  There are "better" FSC logos available that I think GCU should consider when and if they tweak this card surface design.
