Thankyou, thankyou, thankyou!  Fabulous promotion idea! kiss

I have just bought a couple of other artist's cards to send out to people, so then this promo will be on the back of them? They were mailed yesterday.
I'd be willing to donate too....not that I'm making too much at present, but it would be good for me I guess...it's all advertising! Wink

Hi, I bought two cards last week and got .56 cents per card. Today when I bought only one card I got .28 cents per card. Why should it be less? Wouldn't it be the same, at least .50 cents??
Cheers,
Steve

Hi Steve... did you use your the artist code?  if so, then you will only get 0.28.  If not, well, I don't know.

I replied to your email.  Likely you did not use your artist discount code thus paid $2.79 and earned 56 vs paying $1.89 and earning 28 cents.

We've had a couple of customer complaints about the back of the card being too "commercial".    I talked to one customer that bought a few bridesmaid cards.     She wanted a very classy look for the card.    She liked the front image and the inside, but thought the card was "cheapened" by the information on the back.     She said the GCU logo was very "in your face" and too commercial.    Keep in mind that this complaint was before we added the promo, which would have made it even worse from her perspective.

I suppose there is  a fine line between promoting our services and making sure the card does not come across as a cheesy commerical.  Just a heads up and for everyone to think about this a bit.     We'll keep track of the complaints to get a better sense for the magnitude of the problem.   For now, we'll continue to include the promo code on the back.

Thanks,
Nasser

I think GCU should definitely listen to customers, but I can't say that I understand the complaint. Traditionally, backs of greeting cards have the company logo, a scan code, price, etc. Had she not wanted her recipients, for some reason, to know where she had purchased the cards? Had she wanted them to think she had designed the cards herself?

How long have the complaints been coming in and how many of them were made? Can the start of the complaints be traced to a change in logo size or any other change?

I'd be interested in hearing further observations from card buyers as they come in. "Too commercial" confuses me; it's not like you've rented space on the back of the cards to McDonald's! (grin)

BTW, my Christmas card recipients are *thrilled* to hear that the back of their cards will contain the promo code.

Thanks for keeping us updated, Nasser.

I'd say the promo idea is great but... maybe a better way would be to send a coupon(s) with the orders (use an inevpensive way) ... maybe one for each card in the order.  Hey it's an idea.   Wink

Sally, What a great idea!  That would solve the problem of the "commercial" card.  The negative aspect struck a nerve with me.

I ordered and received a number of my own cards and frankly, I was put off too by this on-card promo.  I'd rather see a much smaller one and have it placed in the lower right corner so that it doesn't distract from the look of a "Normal" card or steal eyes away from the Artist credits.  The idea is good, but a simple small font note in the lower corner would be better in my view.

I got my card order today, and as usual, the print quality was excellent... and then I turned it over.  The promo is way too big.  It looks, well, for lack of a better word, tacky.  I think the promotions are necessary, but surely there's a better way.  I  find myself wishing that I had seen how it looked before I sent many of my cards directly from the site.  I think you guys are phenomenal and do a tremendous job and hate to sound picky and fickle, but I just don't like it.  Have a good night.

Thank you for all the feedback.

It appears that most like to include the promo but we need to rethink the presentation.    Perhaps as Tom suggested, something  a bit more subtle and in the corner.   Any specific ideas, please let us know.

While we're at it, any feedback on the GCU logo?     Does anyone think its too big or too bright?   I prefer to keep it as is.

BTW, the coupon idea is unfortunately not an option.   That adds a whole new step to the fulfillment process which makes is not feasible.    Good idea though, but I bet that would have offended someone as well.

I think the logo is very professional and well done.  It balances out the back of the card without overpowering it.  Nasser, as always, thanks for not only asking for our opinion, but listening to what we have to say.  If I don't see you in a post again before next week, I hope you and your family have a very Merry Christmas.

It is simple and "clean" enough and I don't think it has to be changed, but there is no harm in exploring some alternatives.  Since we are all Artists, I would think a Logo that was more "Artistic" would make sense, plus one that uses G C U in some way since that is how we all refer to this company (Like "IBM").

Perhaps consider a logo contest where we Artists submit a single entry at 300dpi for consideration with dimension guidelines published by GCU.  In the spirit of collaboration, I'd suggest the winner donate the logo and be satisfied that if theirs is chosen that they get bragging rights for life and endless high praise by their fellow Artists.

Thanks for asking Nasser!
