National Stationery Show - NCY 5/18 - 5/21/08

GCU will be attending the National Stationery Show this month in NYC.

We will be walking the show floor meeting artists, spreading the word about GCU, learning about up and coming greeting card trends, networking, etc.

Anyone else going to be there? Please let us know, we would love to meet any of our GCU artists in person!

Hi Lisa,
Absolutely! One of our interests this year is to take it all in and brainstorm for possibly exhibiting next year. Exciting and quite a privilege to represent our community of artists!

With better bulk order and wholesale pricing coming this year we'll be in a great position for the '09 show.

That's good news Mindy. I attended the show last year, but will not be able to this year. I met a LOT of artists there who were very friendly and generous with their advice -- in other words, a lot like the GCU community Wink

It was really eye opening to see all of the styles of cards out there and get a handle on trends. I highly recommend it to any artists who can make it. It's only a 3 hour train ride for me, so a lot more doable than for some folks, but well worth it if you are looking for inspiration, contacts, and industry info.

I'm sure you all will be tired from working the show -- it's huge -- but hopefully you'll also be able to see the sights. What a great city for the show.

I think May in NYC is generally pretty (originally from "way" upstate) nice so you should have pleasant weather! Me too! I'm within Commuting distance from NYC - and if GCU has a booth in 2009 and needs an enthusiastic GCU artist to help man the booths - I'm intersted in helping!

This year -I just have too many things happening at once.

Nicole - in previous years artists were allowed to walk the show for a fee and you didn't have to pre-register. As far as creds go you just need to show a business card and drivers liscense or some other ID w/your photo. I went a few years ago and it was $30 -not sure how much it is this year. Check their website. Also look into SURTEX (surface design -a lot of liscencees artists and reps or is it liscensors have booths) It's usually set up right next door to the national stationary show. And the fee gets you in for both.
