'sexy cards'
Jan 27th, 2008, 10:39pm

I notice in the Requests listings a few searches for 'sexy cards' and 'adult greeting cards'.

I'd be interested in doing a few of these, but I have the strong sense that this site would frown on the sort of card selections that might be found in the naughtier shopping mall stores.

What guidelines exist for this sort of thing?   Don't want to ruffle any sensitive feathers...

"see this thread "

Yes, I see the conversation.   Huh

However, it's between GCU members; no official party or moderator has shown up to write out guidelines or point toward some posted rules.

I'd like to find something more specific than 'be nice, I've got kids here!'  You know?

Hi, Robin!

This isn't an "official" response, but I think what GCU is looking for in sexy cards is more towards the tasteful than the tasteless; risque, not raunchy. Photographs of topless ladies seem to be okay, for example. Explicit sex acts would be a no-no. Think very, very soft not hard core. As far as wording, I'd stick with risque messags rather than the downright pornographic.

There aren't any explicitly stated rules on the subject; however, any card which the GCU moderators deem inappropriate will be rejected when submitted, and we have a new Notes field for them to give you feedback on why the card isn't acceptable. You might try an experiment or two, see how your ideas go over. Just be sure to put them into the appropriate Adult or Sexy category.

Hi Robin,

Corrie's reply is right on.   There are no concrete rules on the subject, but please see Mindy's reply here for some additional information on these types of cards:
http://www.greetingcarduniverse.com/forum/yabb2/YaBB.pl?num=1198078261/16#16

Feel free to submit your cards and we'll take a look.  In the event that the cards are deemed inappropriate, you will receive an email with notes on how we came to our conclusion and possibly even suggestions on what you can modify to have the images approved.

For example, here's the Collections >> Adult category:

Hmm, mostly ladies being featured.    Perhaps we could use some shirtless men Wink
