Military Results

Hi, guys! I just did a search for 'military' and came up with lots of floral and cards with 'knots' on them---for various occassions---but nothing to do with military.

I see many of the same cards six time---with different titles or a small variance in border color so the image isn't exactly the same--but it's so close they all blur together.

Is there a temp. glitch in search results?

I have one but just put it under Memorial Day because I couldn't seem to find a generic Military listing. Thanks, SueB

The search is working fine. It's the keywords on cards that is giving misleading results. This is a perfect example of how important keywords are. They should describe the art/image only to help shoppers find the right content not addressed elsewhere (category, title, inner verse).

Use keywords wisely and sparingly. Do not make a card with keywords something that it is not, don't be misleading. Describe the VISUALS like style, color, (animal)breed, pattern, etc.

Here's a perfect example of well keyworded cards. Congrats to Deborah for doing an excellent job Cheesy

Rollover any of her cards and see how targeted her keywords are. They only describe the nature of the art/image in detail.

So if and when someone searches for "Red Tulips Coffee Birthday" they will get exactly what they're looking for and nothing else! That's the beauty and power of search if the right data is provided:

Keywords should NOT be used to describe what occasion the card is for nor who the card is for. Leave that to the category, title and inside text. If it's not in the category, title and inside text then it's probably not a specific enough card for you to list it in your keywords.

If your keywords are a laundry list of the many uses and many recipients for the card - chances are your card will come up incorrectly for searches. And probably too general of a card to catch the attention of the shopper.

We have updated the keywords for the "knots" and floral cards. It will take 24 hours to be reflected in search.

We do look at keywords when we approve cards but to be honest, if we went through them with a fine toothed comb card approval time would be astronomical Shocked

Sue, to anwer your question about Military Categories we have a few at this time:
Collections >> Support Our Troops
Colletions >> Patriotic
Wedding >> Military Wedding

Hope that helps. Keyword basics is probably something we should put in an Artist's Cheat Sheet reference along with Categories, Image re-use limits, profiling, etc.

Please do make up a cheat sheet for this. I'm going to check my own cards out again and adjust the keywords. Some of mine are probably somewhat inappropriate. I don't have meny cards up and most likely not have much up in the future as I draw and computer colorize my drawings. This one is a camera shot I took from my own camera in town. At least it's not flowers , .
