Reply #1 - Jan 21^st, 2008, 3:51pm I have noticed an increase in both visits and clicks as well, not as many as you, but a significant amount, more than double increase for me. I wonder if it is true as well. Maybe it is valentine's day shoppers.

I'm guessing only but thinking along the lines of a promotional email going out to shoppers for the holidays. Or perhaps they do a "feed" of products to a search engine. Whatever brings em' in, I'll take em'.

Well, just in case you were following the saga, my store visits finished up at 955 for the day. Today, things seem back to normal. Shaun or Mindy, I would really love to know what happened! Of course, I would love to think that every one of those store visits was a real person but somehow, I don't think so.

Hi Rosanne,
After investigating, we've found that this was the work of a number of search engine crawlers hitting your store pages and generating visits. Looks like you were visited by Google's crawler, Yahoo's crawler and a few others yesterday. You sure you weren't giving out wine and cheese? Cheesy

This can happen from time to time when search engines index our pages. We're looking into ways to filter out these types of visits from your reports. Sorry for the confusion, at least it was entertaining!

Thank you very much for the update and for providing the explanation for possibly one of the funniest things I've ever seen with computers. I'll know for next time I see my store being king hit. At least Google, Yahoo, etc know about the store and its contents!

I still think it's a shame that my visitors were electronic rather than human Wink

Don't think of it as a shame. A search engine indexing you means that people outside of GCU can find your product. Put your URL into Google. When your store link comes up, click on "Cache". Up at the top of the page, you'll be able to see the last time Google crawled you.

I put some of the tags (happy birthday card birman cat ) from one of your cards into Google and you came up at #12. Not bad!
