Slow Page Load

For the last 3 days I've been having a big problem with pages taking forever to load all over the site. It is making it very difficult and time consuming to create new cards. Often when I click continue the page just times out before it loads and I have to back space and start over. Is this a problem on my end or is this caused by increased traffic to the GCU site? I've tried switching browsers and doing a partial history delete but to no avail.

Any help on this would be much appreciated!

I wonder if it is not on your end. I have not been experiencing any delay, with uploading my card front. Where I have noticed a delay, is in the cards being approved. And maybe that's just me. I've only been here a couple of weeks and at first my cards were approved right away. Perhaps what I am experiencing now is more the norm...
Anyways, hope you can get it straightened out. It can be so frustrating when something won't load!

Thanks for bringing this to our attention, sorry to hear that you've been having trouble. I've passed this along to our developers and they are investigating to determine if it's something on our end.

I'll follow up with their findings.

I use both IE and Firefox browsers (because I'm testing to see if one has anything over the other). I have had longer than "average" page loads, but I'm presuming that has more to do with the speed of the Internet connection. There can also be a firewall and multiple anti-virus programs running. This really slows ya down! Your Internet connection can be slower, snail slow on some days. When I have too long page loads, I close all my programs, shut off my computer for 10-15 minutes so it has time to "reset", and restart it. DSL is a particular problem. It is honestly only a little faster than dial-up. If you have DSL call your provider if this problem persists. My DSL service was so bad that my dial-up connection was faster and more stable! (I got rid of the DSL and switched to "Boost" with Optimum.)

There should only be ONE anti-virus program running. I've found that AVG-7 FREE is the best one. Remove all the "extra" anti-virus programs. Usually when you buy a computer it comes loaded with all sorts of "trials", more than one anti-virus and junk that you don't need. You've got to remove all this OEM junk, not just de-activate it.

Hi Sue,
Cards have typically been approved within 24 hours, however over the last week or so the daily number of submitted cards has doubled (definitely not a bad thing Wink

).

Shaun, thanks for passing on my message to the techs and thanks to those who posted with the helpful feedback. I will definety look into some of the suggestions posted here. What is the most puzzling to me is that I've been selling on GCU for almost a year and the last 3 days or so is the first time this has been a problem. All my other selling sites (eBay, Blogger, etc...) are loading just fine....it's a puzzle for sure!
