Short sentences of personalities - Inside text
Jan 7th, 2008, 5:35pm

Hi,

Is it possible to write a short sentence from a great personality of French literature in the "inside text" of the cards ? I'd like to put one of Antoine de Saint-Exupery.

Buyers will have the choice of leaving or delete it ...

Thanks

I believe it is very acceptable to quote someone as long as you give the author credit.  I wouldn't hesitate.

As long as you cite the author, shouldn't be a problem.  Wink

Yes go ahead it sounds great.  Only if it is French; plaease could you include a translation in your description.  This is because not everyone is fluent in French and I, for one, will not buy anything unless I know what it says (I have several chinese T-shirts but I know the translations too)

Hi everybody,

Thank you for your reply.
The sentence of Antoine I'd like to put in the card is a translation in english. But now Wendy, you gave me an excellent idea too. Smiley

Yes I'll cite certainly the author Tammy.

Thanks

What if it's more of a saying---but not by someone specific?  would you have to put 'author unkown'??

Hi Kerra,

I really don't know about sayings without particulary authors. It's a good question.

If it is not a direct quote, and just an old saying that people have used for years, then no, you would not necessarily have to put author unknown. If writing an essay- a person would normally find a simple way to incorporate it into the writing, such as:
As the old saying goes, " Better to have loved and lost, than never to have loved at all..."
I'm just using that off the top of my head, but that is one way to take care of the problem. Actually, that one I could probably find out who came up with it. lol
