GCU Forum - Logging into forum

Every time I log into the forum it asks me if I want it to remember me (below where you enter your info)...I click it for yes but it never does remember me Any ideas? Olivia

My guess would be, your computer automatically deletes all your cookies when you sign off the internet every night, or you manually delete all your cookies when you shut your computer down for the night (which is what I do). If your cookies are not there, websites that have that remember me check box checked, won't remember you the next time you log in. That's just my guess, unless there is really something wrong with the site remembering you. But most of those remember me check box things are based on you keeping the cookies. Nobody remembers me, because I intentionally delete my cookies every night. If I didn't, my hard drive space would be used up. I can't have that happening because of all the photo work I do.

That's just my take. If someone else knows anything else, please let us know.

With my Mac OSX and FireFox, I can CHOOSE which cookies to save and which not to, that way I can clear my cache every session, but keep the wanted cookies. When I log in from another computer (like my son's PC) I'm not remembered and have to put in all password info, which is fine, there I don't want to be remembered. See if your browser offers a place to save certain cookies!

Just in case you want to know what cookies are:
In computer terminology, a cookie is data sent to your computer by a Web server that records your actions on a certain Web site. It's a lot like a preference file for a typical computer program. When you visit the site after being sent the cookie, the site will load certain pages according to the information stored in the cookie.

For example, some sites can remember information like your user name and password, so you don't have to re-enter it each time you visit the site. Cookies are what allow you to have personalized web sites like "My Excite" or "My Yahoo," where you can customize what is displayed on the page. While cookies have many benefits, some people don't like to have their information recorded by Web sites that they visit. For this reason, most Web browsers have an option to accept or deny cookies. Hi Olivia,
Are you clicking the logout link when you exit the site? The Remember Me feature will not work after you manually log out of the site.

As others have mentioned, if your cookies are cleared before you return to the site, we will be unable to identify your computer.
